Good. Not much of a smell but very dark. Has a good deep flavor with hints of coffee and nut.

Appearance: Pours out nearly black with dark ruby highlights on the edges. A thin cap of mocha head forms, but not much retention or lacing. 3.5
Smell: Smells of chocolate, espresso, and dark malts. Very rich scents. Limited hop character.
Taste: Both milk and bitter chocolates, smooth espresso, and some nice dark malt character as well. This is a super flavorful porter. Again, very rich flavors.
Mouthfeel/Overall: Fairly light bodied, maybe a hair over light, with pretty prevalent carbonation. Definitely the weak point of the beer. I was pleasantly surprised with this porter overall. Very flavorful and nice. The first I've had from Montana Brewing Co., nicely done.

Had on tap at the brewpub.
A: totally opaque, not much head, but with thick lacing
S: creamy coffee, caramel, roasted malt, very compelling
T: whoa, tastes like creamy java ice cream, great tapering espresso aftertaste
M: definitely espresso, but mellow, very thick and smooth
D: very hefty, but so tasty and drinkable, I could have it all night
The last keg of this of the season blew out 20 minutes after I had this glass, so I was pleasantly surprised and privileged to get some.

I look forward to every fall/winter season when Montana Brewing Co puts out their espresso porter, its very addictive. Only available on tap. Pours a dark black color with a small off white head. The espresso smell really comes out, smells exactly like a coffee shop. There is also some sweet, malty scents as well. Taste is very well balanced with sweet espresso flavor up front, and a nice earthy slightly bitter hop aftertaste. This beer is moderate to heavy bodied, I would have no problem drinking 3-4 of these but any more might be pushing it. Nevertheless, if you like coffee and you like beer you will not be disapointed. Best beer I have had in quite a while.
