A - Black with minimal carbonation. A two finger tan head fades to a nice thin cap that stays throughout and gets back to a one finger head with agitation. Opaque.
S - Mostly coffee and roasted malts, but that is combined with some of that nice sweetness from the lactose that comes out.
T - Rich malts, not very roasted in the flavour. Coffee with a mild sweetness from that lactose leads to a slightly bitter finish. Interesting mix of flavours for sure.
M - Light to medium bodied with minimal carbonation. Very smooth.
D - Highly drinkable. Not heavy at all but packed with flavour and a great abv.

12oz bottle purchased for $1.89, likely from Metro Joanette in Montreal. Pours black with no head or carbonation. Medium aroma of roasted malt. The first sensation is tanginess on the lips and tongue. It's medium bodied and slightly sweet as it goes down. Too tangy and not enough depth. Not a great oatmeal stout.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a dirty brown foamy head with good retention and some pretty good lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt with some light coffee notes. Taste is dominated by some dry roasted malt notes with some light coffee and some subtle black chocolate. Body is full with some great carbonation. Actually better then what I expected; this brewery seems to be improving lately.

Pours pitch black, had to give it a vigorous pour to get some head on it, first impression was of a poorly stored bottle... there was a sharp aroma kind of like rotten yeast, this fortunately gave way but still I smell a little "cooked vegetable" and lots of fruity esters, very faint but there.
Interesting flavors, lots of roast with what seems to be esters and phenols that are not common to stouts. There also seems to be a hint of wheat in this one ( black wit ?? ).
Kinda messy for a oatmeal stout, but its an interesting brew.

A 660ml bottle I brought home from a road trip in Quebec.
Deep dark with a thick mocha head that stays for a while.
Smells of burnt malts, alcohol , coffee and chcolate with a touch of vanilla.
A great balance of the roasted malts with the modest bitterness and the warming alcohol. espresso and dark chocolate are present. also some tartness.
I paired it with 2 mini-Hershey's sugar-free chocolates - Perfect!
The beer provided all the necessary sweetness to the candy.
Very smooth and creamy, low to medium carbonation.
Finished the bottle quite easily and could go on.
A great example of an oatmeal stout. cant wait to taste their other stuff I brought along.

Appearance: This beer poured a pitch black colour with way too much brown foam. Some head is ok, but not so much, because you waste it when you spill it.
Smell: Maybe it is my nose, but it seems that it could have more aroma. At least, the caramel and malts aromas are very interesting.
Taste: Ah bitterness! I like very much the taste of this beer. It got a very complex mix of bitterness, but also lots of sweetness, some tartness, that roasted malt taste and good oatmeal.
Mouthfeel: One of the best ones I reviewed. It is creamy and half-bodied. It got personnality and it is really fun to feel it.
Drinkability: I heard some good feedbacks about this brewery, but I wasn't too sure since it was a new regional company and I was suspecious if it was really about the quality or the origin of these products. Now, I added another favorite beer in my list.

This is a very interesting brew in the sense that it has multiple characters. Hard to pin down according to style... an oatmeal stout with lactose that posesses an aroma and flavour profile of a belgian ale and an english ale as well.
The beer enters the glass pitch black with a creamy but smallish head. The foam leaves no lacework and is short-lived.
This is where things get interesting. You're expecting a stout but... you get assaulted by fruit and spice notes up front. What a surprise. Lost in the scrum of aromas are hints of burnt malt, salted nuts, tar and butter. The finish is mild and reminescent of freshly ground coffee.
The flavours are equally interesting. Much of the same manifests itself up front in the mouth, that is to say fruit and spice notes and a noticeable brett character (was it intended? Is it due to the lactose?). In mid-field the oatmeal stout character surfaces, yielding a creamy texture surrounding the medium bodied brew. Flavours are of roast house burnt goodness and mild maltiness. As the beer warms hints of hops emerge.
This beer gets a high rating for originality and for being completely different from what I had expected. The aromas and flavours are all there and in good company and provide a pleasant sensory experience. I don't think this would be everyone's opinion but it is mine. A typically french canadian beer with a penchant for both of its historic roots. Cheers!
