Craft brewers aren't in business to break even. They aren't a charity. Making money by selling a product that people are willing to buy at a higher price isn't a crime. It's called capitalism.

A 32oz Sucks for $6-$7 is still a good deal and 9.99 for a sixer was a STEAL.

Whining about a price increase is pointless. Saying you will buy less Sucks is meaningless. Sucks will not be a shelf turd.

Come on now, let's not give them any ideas for the name of their next release!

Of course, putting Sucks in different bottles will likely create a bunch of "Sucks doesn't taste as good in the new bottles" comments.

Why not raise the price on a 6 pack to make a profit and continue giving people beer they love in the most poular format? They could raise it 2 bucks and still sell out. Now they'll be competing against other quality IPA's in a preferred format. Just seems like a poor business decision. But, that's what makes owning a business great. You can do as you please. And I could very well be wrong.

Well, we can bump this thread at the end of the year to illustrate how Lagunitas (a company that started small and currently does $90million in sales) makes better business decisions than you do.

Yeah - I was being goofy. Though an old school Hi-C style can of beer that had to be opened with a churchkey would be really badass.

As of about a year ago he was vehemently against them and mentioned that Lagunitas would be the last brewery on earth to can their beers. Recently he opened the door to the possibility down the road if the market demanded it.

I love just about all of their beer and the fact that they are willing to be open minded about stuff like this.

I have nothing against Tony using a 32 ounce format for Sucks.

I have a preference (and a number of others on this thread does as well) for a 12 ounce format for this beer. I am of the personal opinion that a 32 ounce bottle is too big for a 7.85% ABV beer.

So, my suggestion is to utilize both formats for this beer. Folks who find the 32 ounce format appealing can purchase the beer in that size. Folks like me who prefer a smaller size bottle for a 7.85% beer can purchase it in 12 ounce bottles. Both sets of beer consumers are happy!

If the price of a six-pack of Sucks needs to be raised, I would pay a few dollars more for it like beerindaglass previously discussed.

    Cheers!

I'm guessing that sculpin is too expensive to ever justify

Oh, I think I get it. I assume he meant:

"In regards to sculpin, it is simple math: neither."

I should know better than to take punctuation and spelling at face value on the interwebz. It always just adds to my confusion...

Ooh, super burn brah! Let me clarify for all the puncuation and grammar police wasting their time looking to cite people on beer advocate. Sculpin is an enjoyable ipa for sure, but I can't justify spending $15 for a sixer when I can get sucks for $10 (which I think is a better beer anyway).

Nah.. I think it's a decent format for certain beers.. Sucks, I can drink 32oz easy.. Come home, clean up, and crack it.. Pour a glass, enjoy and wonder around the yard.. Pour another and get dinner ready, fire up the grill.. Drink the last bit with dinner, and then get mad because it's not a full glass, and open another.

Not to mention, my twins will be born shortly before it comes out again, and I won't be lying to the wife when I tell her I'm only having one beer.

Not anymore. Sculpin just became a cheaper deal for me. Fwiw, Hop Stoopid is dated 034 right now and sculpin is sold out at the most popularl bottle shop. Ironically all of Langunitas' 12oz. beers are fresh. And moving quickly too. Hmmmm.

I applaud anyone that can run a successful, profitable business in California. Taxes, regulations, high rents, insurance, etc....I've got customers there and they share the horror stories. I"m thankful that my little biz is next door in the Grand Canyon State! I love Lagunitas and appreciate your efforts to make great beer affordable and accessible!

I cant wait for the first "gangsta" beer geek video pouring a little sucks in the ground for their homies with the larger format. Seriously lagunitas prices are a downright bargain. I have been paying 9.99 a six for sucks. A lot of comparable beers are $12 for a four pack around here. Ill gladly pay a little more if i can get sucks year round and quality stays the same.

And i could crush a 32 like Rocky crushed Clubber.

I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to "burn" anybody, & I actually agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment. I just really didn't quite get what was stated because of said punctuation. Usually I'll read those questionable posts multiple times but my newborn son kept me up last night & I'm short on sleep today.
