Dark Lord 2012

Don't expect to get into the brewpub... its pretty standard 3+ hour wait time.

 

Starting off the weekend RIGHT

 

I'm still wondering if they're going to have more tap stations outdoors (like they did at XV), making the brewpub pretty much a moot point, though my guess would be that they'll still keep the Vanilla and Oak Aged variants inside, as there's probably not enough of those to go around to justify putting them outside. Guess we'll know when we get there!

No kidding, I waited in the Brewpub line for at least 4hrs last year, had just enough time to get a pour of Vanilla Bean and Oak Aged Dark Lord, 3 Kings (damn that beer was tasty), a cpl other brews, and a bite to eat before I had to get in line for my btls. However, got to try several beers while waiting including PtE, MOAS, lots of ZD and many others thanks to some generous BAs. My wife still refers to DLD as Line Day.

 

Isn't that what every event is going to be from now on?

 

yeah, for about the last two years too!

 

......I waited 10 minutes. Had a decision to make, go and try and get Rare, or go to the brewpub. Most people went the opposite direction I did, and I ended up only having to wait about 10 minutes to get it. And we were fairly generous, we left after an hour. (2 VB DL, 2 Oak DL, and 2 Zombie Dusts)

 

Plus, it might not even be worth trying. They had nothing special on tap in the brew pub for the XV party and I wouldn't be suprised if it was the same for DLD this year.

 

As I said earlier, I can pretty much guarantee you they will have Vanilla Bean Dark Lord and Oak Aged Dark Lord on tap. At least they have every year I've been (since '09).

 

First time attending for me, have some questions for you veterans of DLD
1. How much do you usually pay for parking?
2. How do the guest taps work? Do you wait in line and then when it's your turn you get a pint/taste and go to the back of the line for more?
3. Are tasting tables set up all around or just in one spot?
4. When i get my Dark Lord can i take it to my car and come back to the event?

I am planning on bringing a bunch of local brews from Sun King and Triton here in Indianapolis and hope to share with other people...

Hate to disagree, but they always have special taps. At the very least, vanilla bean Dl is a glorious beast.

 

3F randomly changes shit with no communication, so Im not sure anything can be predicted based on the past. I would guess that they will have it too, I just wouldn't be surprised if they had it on tap outside this year instead.

The best way to not be disappointed by 3F event is to have no preconceived expectations...

We can only hope they do some variation of fifteen... But until they release information, ill use previous years as more relevant information.

 

So, from what it looks by reading the posts in this thread, is it safe to say the earliest anybody is going to be in line is 5am? I know it's hard to gauge because not everyone who is going to DL is on this board, but for the people who are on here, is that a safe assumption?

 

I'll throw a desperation attempt. Looking for 1 or 2 group a or b tix. Got some Westvleteren 12 or Cantillon to trade. Or we can work something out. I'm in the loop area
