You know, I never realized it until the post to which you're responding, but Schlafly's beer is certainly an imperial version, even if they don't label it as such.

I'm just stunned that it's an 8% beer. It's long been one of my favorite pumpkin ales and I never knew it was that strong.

    - Neshaminy Creek Punkel Dunkel is 8.8%. Just released about a week ago.
    - Rock Art Pumpkin Imperial Spruce Stout is 8%.
    - Pike Harlot's Harvest Pumpkin Ale is 8.5%.

I'm brewing an Imperial Pumpkin IPA tomorrow. I haven't been able to find many who have done it, so this one will be somewhat of a shot in the dark. I love pumpkin beers (good ones), and I'm an IPA fanatic. This'll be done just in time for my birthday. Wish me Luck!

I had a squash saison last fall called squaison or similar, no spices. It was great. A good saison and you could pull out some squash in the finish. Unfortunately the brewery only brews one offs of everything.

    Enjoy

All beers will be assimilated into the IPA collective. Resistance is futile.

Never had one. I'd imagine the hops would basically kill the pumpkin flavor since it's so subtle anyway.

And by the way, what's the deal with people posting "pumpkin beer sucks" or whatever on EVERY pumpkin beer thread? If you don't like it, why read the thread or post anything about it? I find no value in these contributions.

Autumnation was a damn good beer but disappointing if you were looking for a good dose of pumpkin. I am glad it did not have spices but the mosaic hops just took over any pumpkin flavor.

This is getting off topic, but how in the hell is a brewery in New York getting wet hops from Washington?

    . . . overnight shipping? That's what I would assume, certainly.

Bales of fresh hops have been known to spontaneously combust (which lead to a Hopunion warehouse burning down in 2006), so I don't think shipping several hundred pounds in an airplane would be allowed.

I don't think Autumnation has pumpkin in it.

Not anymore. It did in the past, but this year and going forward it will be a wet hop ale.
