What's up guys . Just wanted to get your feedback on a issue I have come to expect now when I try non sour beers by the Bruery. The last 3 non sour Bruery beers I have had have all been sour. White Chocolate, Ebony and Oak and Mrs Stoutfire. I do really enjoy the Bruery sours that they make but if you are expecting to drink a non sour beer and what you get is infected its pretty disappointing. When doing sour beers there is always a risk of infecting your brew house so its not all that surprising that this is has happened but what is surprising to me is how regularly it has happened. So my question is , Has anyone else experienced this when it comes to The Bruery or have I just had some recent bad luck. Cheers

Contact Bruery and give them as much information as you can (bottling code, where you purchased it, etc). I'm sure they'd appreciate it, and you might even get some free stuff.

When buying any expensive beer (aka all of The Bruery's beers) I do some research to see if it has a chance of being infected. It's pretty well known that 2013 White Chocolate and Ebony and Oak were infected, both of them being recalled (and White Chocolate subsequently being put back for sale online with them adding in the description that it's tart and more dry compared to last year). As far as Mrs. Stoutfire goes, never heard anything about it being infected. I would just wait some time before purchasing a bottle from them to see if there are reports of it being infected. Just do your research and you should be fine. I've had a bunch of their beers and haven't had an infected one yet.

Sour in the rye and Oude Tart are supposed to be sour (if you weren't being sarcastic)

I got Ebony and Oak plus Mrs Stoutfire as extras . I usually do take a look at the reviews and take that into consideration.

Ebony and Oak the Bruery recalled/refunded any purchases made.
White Chocolate they say it overcarbonated and tart but not actually infected.
First I've heard any reports of Mrs. Stoutfire. It is a very smokey beer, is it possible that is what you're picking up?

No man it was not the smoke. I like a good smokey beer from time to time. This poured fairly thin with a bunch of carbonation that fizzed out really quickly leaving almost no head. smell was of smoke and apple cider vinegar . Taste sharp, acidic, and tart.

Anyone know how the Bruery separates their sour/non-sour production areas?

Just tried Cacaonut and it was a drain pour. Definitely infected.

My experience has been if you pour in the yeast it will have a tart sourish flavor. Never had an off breuery beer. I am at this very moment drinking bois, I got last pour def got a bunch of yeast . It, thanks to the sediment has a slight sourness to it that doesn't show up in the other pours.

I left the yeast sediment behind. Wich I do in pretty much all beer styles except for Heffeweizen's or unless the bottle states to . Believe me when I say these beers where no doubt sour

I have had black Tuesday and Fruet before and they were not infected at all but this was last year. Since then, the 3 non soured Bruey beers I have had were all infected.

I have Mash, Mash and Grind and Chocolate Rain in the cellar now so hopefully they're not infected. I like the Bruery's beers so I'm not trying to put them down just wondering how many people have had similar issues with their non soured stuff

Ironically, I used my apology coupon from the infected Ebony and Oak to buy another bottle of White Chocolate. Haven't had it yet, but couldn't fricken believe it when I read that it might be infected too.

Although I kind of liked the sour Ebony and Oak.

Scary - I've got 3 bottles of this years Black Tuesday on its way to me... I'd be bummed beyond belief if they were infected.
