Is the 1809 best buy 2018? Is that why you wrote that on it? Just bought my first two the other day.

I have a few storm kings sitting around. Victory best dates them for 5 years...will try them over the next couple years.

The 1809 doesn't have a best by date but another BA said that Berliner Weisses cellar nice. So I figured I would put one away for about 5 years as an experiment.

Oh so that's to remind you when you want to drink it by. Got it. Cool, good idea!

I am going to crack one open this weekend, it'll be my first time trying it.

I'm new here and just starting on my cellar. No cave for me :slight_frown: just a typical Michigan/midwest style basement. This pic is under the stairs.

Moved in to a new place over the weekend and was delighted to see our downstairs basement/storage area already had a shelf in place where I could start cellaring beers away in a perfectly dark, cool environment.

While it's not the largest collection, I'm proud of it as a starting point.

Found some fun photos for a timeline. Here was my cellar around its inception.

And here was the cellar version two.

And lastly, here's where the cellar is at this point. It's grown quite a bit fuller since the previous photo

Hovering around 250 bottles these days, which is pretty much capacity. http://www.beercellar.me/cellar/josh

How long have you been cellaring that flight of New Glarus fruits? I just picked them all up and was assuming I'd need to drink them ASAP.

Alas, that shelf was not meant to last. It had both a lesser capacity, and its shelves were bowing pretty heavily after a while. I definitely don't recommend wooden IKEA shelving for long term beer storage, as it won't hold up to the weight.

Recently moved into a new house and was bummed to find out that the basement always stays warm cuz of the heater. Luckily the sellers left a meat freezer. It was covered in blood, but some elbow grease and a Johnson controller later, makes for a sweet beer fridge. I'm kinda new to this game so still working on filling it up.
