    You would need roughly 53 gallons of beer to fill a bourbon barrel and I don't personally know any homebrewers that brew on that kind of scale. Although they're kind of a rip off, I've thought about buying one of these to use for homebrewing after the whiskey is done http://www.amazon.com/2-Liter-Ameri...id=1400002161&sr=8-2&keywords=bourbon+barrel;

    Traded for one a while back and it was severely infected. It was a very sad day...

    I don't think it's barrel aged, but if you want a good milk stout you should try To Øl's Jule Maelk.

    BA Fantastic Voyage is phenomenal. Can't get enough.

    River Horse (a small-ish brewery near me) just announced that they'll be releasing a bourbon (Maker's, if you care) barrel-aged version of their oatmeal milk stout sometime in June or July, although it probably won't make it into distribution except maybe in their mixed 12-packs.

    Sorry to hear that, glad it wasn't me sent it to you.

    We opened the last of mine, from batch 1, last Fathers Day, glad to say it was amazing, even better than "fresh". Held my breath while I did, though, because I had heard of some issues with other bottles in later bottlings. Wheewwwww.

    Just look at the "best of the style" & most all the top 10 on that list see a barrel of one sort or another. Let's face it, this is BA, and barrel aged anything usually hits the top of the list, regardless of the intricacies of the style.

    Thanks, I did look at that list, but I have got some beer ideas that were not at the top of the style, the non-ba style ranking. Thanks for looking out though :slight_smile:

    I think Mikkeller vanilla shake uses a hefty dose of lactose which kinda sorta makes it a milk stout by default. It's incredible.

    Surprisingly, Double Cream Stout doesn't have lactose sugar in it.

    Moat Water and Cognac Imperial Sweet Stout are tops from CCB. 10000 times better than the garbage juice that was Life is Like. Bourbon Barrel Mayan Mocha was excellent...not sure if it is a sweet stout or not. And I hear good things about BA Vanilla Shake.

    Outside of CCB Sweet Stouts I have found most just don't hold up to the barrels. Cafe Royale and Bourbon MooHoo were just sharp booze burn taste, for example.
