My Founder's Breakfast Stout slimed me.

I was at a get together tonight and my buddy brought a couple of mix sixes. I have only been into craft beer for a few months so I missed FBS (Founder's Breakfast Stout) this season. So I was surprised to see that one of the sixes had an FBS. I immediately snatched it up.

I like to let my stouts warm a bit, and I like to try to use appropriate glassware. Both of those went out the window. The beer was fantastic. Great mouthfeel - excellent coffee forward flavor. I had no complaints at all... until the beer was 95% gone. I went to take my second to last sip and I got "slimed". Some sort of congealed goop came out of the bottle. I have no idea if it had been on the bottom or the top (and migrated down as I drank).

I realize I have no idea where this beer has been since it was bottled in November and the beer was still awesome. I just wondered if this has ever happened to anyone before? I tried to search the forums - but "Congealed" and "Goop" are not really used often.

Overall I'd do it again. Can't wait until November for another one (sans goop this time).

I just bought one of the last two 4 packs at my local store. I've had three and no goop for me. I'd email Founders and let them know

It's coagulated proteins that are supposed to drop out of solution and not make it to the bottle, but shit happens sometimes. I bet it's a very rare occurrence with FBS, so wouldn't worry too much about buying it again, especially since the beer tasted fine. If the taste was off it might be something else.

I really got a good laugh from the title of this thread, much appreciated.

That being said, no one has ever slimed in my mouth…but like the rest said - protein buildup. All is well!

Got the same thing from a 2013 Parabola. I saw it floating on top of the final pour. I was also initially weirded out, but my buddy assured me all was well. He did not lie.

Not a big deal. I had one floating in an Old Raspy a few months ago, fished it out with a fork and drank the beer. Tasted fine.

Yep. I thought about going with the title "FBS (un)happy ending" - but decided against it.

No goop in my FBS, lovely beer. Still, I have seen in other beers what you are talking about, it does happen and guys more than women seem to mind it,...

Ha ha! And a Ghostbusters reference could be fitting as well.

Poo in beer is not good! Lol. Glad it wasn't bad.
