Like the post other than the Dodger reference. Sounds like such a beastly beer. Kick back, listen the the game (I think you're still in a rain delay) and enjoy that stogie.

Bloodline from Flying Dog. It's a good beer, good citrus burst and good aroma. The orange is very subtle, but comes through a little more as it warms up and sits out a little. Overall, I like it quite a bit. Flying Dog consistently makes very good beers.

Had a fun afternoon going on a walk with my almost 3 year old daughter and playing some Frisbee with my 10 year old nephew. I also did a little grilling, but I'm no @Greywulfken taking food pics because I tend to eat my plate as soon as it is ready. Beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon, mushroom risotto, and sauteed peppers and onions. Now it is the perfect time to sit on the porch and listen to the sounds of the day fade away with the sunset.

I was eager to try Epic's Hop Syndrome after it showed up last week. A Pilsner with a twist of "rare" hops. It certainly looks like a Pils, but that is about where the similarities end. The sweet and grainy malts work together with the unique hops. They are fruity, not citrus or tropical. Almost like herbs and strawberries. Interesting and refreshing. Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday; I'll see you again next week.

I remember you stating you like reds and I think this is a well balanced west coast style red ale. They discontinued this beer a little while ago and was glad they brought it back. Still wish it can in the six pack variety since it's is nice and drinkable.

    Cheers!

I could still crush some Bombers of this. The brew is clean which I like. Like you said it's balanced none of the flavors were out of place it came together nicely.

Dogfish 75 Minute was new to me this Sunday. Very nice, and I am a rare person that isn't a big fan of 60 or 90. I think the maple syrup mellows it a little, balances the bitterness. Not sure I'd buy it again at this price, but it was definitely a nice IPA.

Greetings all from the great northwest.

And damn glad to be back after a week plus road trip to Las Vegas. Not all fun and games with some family biz to take care of (no the family does not own a casino), but I can always find a little fun in 'Vegas no matter what the circumstances. ;-)

Today it is Boatswain American IPA. Poor reviews on the web site, but I think it's better than the reviewers would suggest.

It has a real sweet bread flavor to it, and mild bitterness. It's not what a hop fiend would be after, but that doesn't make it a bad beer.

Sunny and warm here in the Columbia Basin, blue skies and temps in the upper 80's.

    Until next week.

    Happy Trails!

This just showed up at my regular shop, alongside all of the Baltikas and Krustovice, so I figured I'd take one out for a spin. It's a Croatian beer in the Pilsner style.

The nose does show some Saaz hop character, as well as a light doughy malt backdrop. It's all so slight, though, and could stand to be a little stronger. It falters even more on the palate, where the hops mostly show up as a clean bitterness. The malt becomes more toasty than it promised at first. They do get some things right, it's definitely a clean beer and nothing becomes annoying or cloying, but there is just a lack of complexity that ultimately dooms it to also-ran status. It's really only about toasty malt and lingering bitterness in the finish, and that gets too monotonous by the end of the bottle.

First new beer Sunday and 1st image upload. (Fair warning)

Beautiful spring day here in MI. Hops are growing well ahead of schedule, Chinook reached the top of the trellis today. Cascade, Centennial, and Zeus are also growing well. Hit the bike trail, before cooking up some pork tenderloin and red skin potatoes on the grill.

The beer tonight is Oppermann's BB Plead the 5th

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Jet black in color, thin cap of mocha colored head.
Aroma is vanilla, milk chocolate, hints of dark chocolate and dark fruits and of course Bourbon.
The taste is more of the same, bitter sweet chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Delish
Big mouthfeel for a BB stout. Touch of booziness is there as expected.

Most definitely a top 3 BB imperial stout for me. I am very interested in trying the original side by with Oppermann's barrels.

    Cheers all

    Como vai vocĂȘ fellow NBS'ers,
Have had some of the loveliest weather in the windy city in awhile. Blue skies and a hot sun rolling the temps up into the high 70's, low 80's during the day and dropping to a refreshing 50's, low 60's at night. Everything smells so fresh and green. Had to work today, but it gave me an excuse to stop on the way home and grab a nice ground beef and mushroom pizza which I have been shoveling in my belly for the last half hour and now its time for New American Pale Ale Sunday. Thanks Brian @ Otis and Lee in Deerfield.

Medium pour centered in the glass. Pale golden color produces a nice three finger head that fades quickly to leave behind some lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, pine, sweet grain and some additional floral notes. Nice nose for a single hop-single malt beer. Tastes of tangerine, grain, grapefruit zest, hints of pine. and some black pepper. Mouthfeel seems light, oddly refreshing, slightly bitter with a dry finish. First time seeing cans from our inner city friends and have to say I kind of like it and will look forward to see what is offered next.

Cheers and a good week to all, Joe

Especially for the price ($3-ish at my local TJs), it's not a terrible between paychecks beer. The HLV was a decent strong ale as well.

Welcome! Nice pic, and I love the veiny and oily look of that stick. What is it? I have the last inch and a half of a shorty Kentucky Fire Cured downstairs waiting for me.

And yes I know it isn't beer related haha.

Key takeaway? Glad to have you with us, see you next Sunday. Cheers!

Back for another round today as I watch the Spurs hopefully take down the Heat again. Sorry to any heat fans out there.

This is a nice beer, and this brewery is doing hoppy beers pretty well. Not many reviews on this one, but it's a nice hoppy amber that I'll pick up again. It's no Nugget Nectar, but its got a nice citrusy and resinous character backed by a malty backbone. I also love tall boy cans.

TJs makes some solid beer. That Stockyard Oatmeal Stout is a very good beer, and the price makes it world-class.

I paired the Oppermann's beer with a Oppermann's "house" brand cigar (only seemed right). They buy hand rolled cigars in bulk with their labels on it and offer them at a decent price. Oppermann's is my local bottle shop, no affiliation.
