Good point, I feel Union Jack is a example of the style and a good price. Personally I have enjoyed really bitter IPAs from pretty the time I started exploring craft beer so I wasn't thinking about that angle.

Odell IPA, Lagunita's Sucks, Tallgrass Ethos, and Oskar Blues G'Knight, are a few I'd recommend. G'Knight is classifed as an, "Imperial Red," but whatever it is, it deserves a solid sniff.

    Sierra Nevada Torpedo.
Stone EnjoyBy (if you can get it....periodic, limited release)
    Hop Stoopid
Wachusett Larry (seems to be available regularly now - cans)

...and of course....if you can get it....try a Heady Topper. But you are from AZ so it may be hard. Pliny may be a better one to locate.

Do you buy Jai Alai from the Cigar City Brewery site? I definitely don't recognize the can, so I'm not sure if they sell it in my area. Besides Total Wine, we have some great liquor stores with amazing selections of beer. After posting this thread and reading more about beer (and with my little list in hand), it was different going into a store with a wide selection. I actually recognized a good portion of the IPAs they had. Now I'll just have to start a thread for American amber/red ales and brown ales, then move on to porters and stouts. It's like a whole new world has opened.

From the replies above you are pretty much covered. I would just add 3 Floyds Dread naught IPA, Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger Rye IPA, Lagunitas IPA, and Upland Dragonfly IPA to the list.

In terms of relatively easily available: SN Torpedo, FW Double Jack (maybe?), Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, and you can not go wrong with the Stone IPA series. If you're up for a slightly maltier and juicier beer, my absolute favorite IPA thats available and reasonably priced is the 90 minute by Dogfish Head.

Since posting this thread, with the suggestions given, the new ones I've tried so far are:

    Sculpin
    Racer 5
    Lagunitas IPA
    Refuge - AZ Wilderness
    Easy Jack
    All Day IPA

I have a bottle of Stone Enjoy by sitting in my fridge, so I'll have to resist drinking that all day. I might hide it behind things so I don't see it when I open the door. Dogfish head will be next, the 60 minute. It's tempting to get the ones I know I like, but I really want to try different ones too. So many choices!! It's fun to look forward to new beers.
