I have a brother in law who's a bottomless pit when it comes to beer , but when he comes in I lock my good shit away and buy Rolling Rock, he's allergic to corn in every way imaginable, so an adjunct lager makes him buy his own shit. Either that or he swells up like a blow fish.

Prettymuch this, I don't trust many people with anything of mine at this point. I've been screwed out of enough money, and days off of work, and hard to find CDs and DVDs and such by people that just don't want to return things that I'm not lending anything to anybody anymore, unless they're in my rather small group of close friends. Am I bitter? Damn right I am, I'm dead tired of the nonsense. OP, move your good stuff somewhere else before a party, clearly you can't trust them to not drink the more expensive beers that you have that they don't even like, and if they don't like it, that's THEIR problem, hell, padlock your fridge if you really want to.

    Haha I noticed that too.

I really enjoyed reading the responses on this thread. Picturing a bunch of (fairly young, I'm assuming) shit faced party guests helping themselves to those beers is pretty funny, sorry twizzard.

I don't have any "normal" beers. The absolute lightest things I have are Gueze, and IPA's. If you don't like those you're out of luck. I suppose I should buy some light beers to keep around for non BA guests. With that said I gave a Rochefort 8 to a BMC brother in law and he loved it so you never know

I had a BMC buddy pull my first ever KBS out of the back of my fridge where I had placed it before a party without me knowing. I saw him come around the corner taking a sip from the bottle saying, this coffee beer isn't too bad. I jumped up and grabbed it, poured half of it in a snifter for myself and a few other craft appreciators there, and gave him back the other half.

I see both sides of this...smart man who knows his friends hides the good stuff. At the same time, I know the type. Stick by their lame BMC beers they've been guzzling for decades and THEN when good and drunk, the truly good stuff, is, well, good enough. Er, nope. Smells like a beer-hypocrite scenario to me. When they come back, before they drink any of the good stuff, make them admit how good it was in front of the others... Public beer humiliation.

Sorry we can't all be from awesome places like you... I would expect people to stay the f out if I tell them to. Otherwise they wouldn't be welcome at my house. I assume they still use manners & respect in Maryland, at least all of my relatives from there do...

I recently did a BYOB bbq. I filled a cooler full of Sam Adams beers of summer 24 pack and kept sneaking to the fridge for my good stuff.

You have every right to be pissed. My beer fridge is out in the non-insulated, non-air conditioned garage, so no one really ventures out that way, allowing me safe storage. I would have reacted very similarly.

Couldn't you have just simply said, "I'll pay for another case or two of beer, as I'm saving these for another occasion", and had someone drive to the closest place to buy beer?

Jesus people, it's beer. The comments in this thread about getting new friends and charging them and whatever other asinine suggestions....FFS, it's easy to get beer. It's not easy to get real friends. Get a grip. (And save the "real friends wouldn't drink your good beer crap...sure they would, if they don't know better, or if they are drunk, or for whatever other reason...).

What happened at your place is common place when booze runs out at a party. You should have known and planned better.

    It's a party.

I don't think there are haters, just people discussing what you threw out there.

You left some things on the table that is part of the discussion.

    1. Was the other beer in coolers, or was all the beer in that deck fridge?
    2. Where were you while this was happening?
    3. How much are we talking here 12? 24? more?

I think that by having the beer on the deck where the party was happening you are inviting guests to help themselves, unless you specifically say something else. I can't remember a BBQ where there was an outside fridge where I wasn't expected to help myself, and I've done the same.

I have my beer in my garage fridge, and I have both good stuff and BMC in there. We recently had a neighborhood July 4th party where some people liked craft and some didn't. I simply brought the good stuff out to the guys I knew liked the good stuff, or to anyone who asked "what are you drinking." I had brought some easy to get locals as well as some BMC to the coolers closer to the party (people were mainly in my neighbor's yard). As the night got further along more and more people wanted to try "the good stuff." I obliged by grabbing some solid easy to get locals and after a couple people were done.

Disagree with your assessment of Breitbart but I agree that BA is no place for politics.
