Greetings BAs, I'll be traveling to Miami at the end of the month and was wondering if Cantillon is available anywhere in South Florida. Not looking for rare bottles, just want to grab some of their regulars if possible. Cheers!
Cantillon in FL is like Hailey's Comet. Once every 76 years it comes and is gone in a few seconds. There were limited bottles of Hommage not too long ago so check back in 2090. I'd check one of the websites you can order them from. EtreGourmet.com, BelgiumInABox.com and others.
A couple of months ago I happened to visit Total Wine in Fort Lauderdale and they had Cantillon Geueze 100% Lambic ($12.99 per 375 mL bottle, 1 per person) so I bought one. I heard some of the other total wines around had it. This is the only time I have seen it around. It does seem to be like a rare find.
You won't find too many hyped up Cantillons out in Miami. You can, however, find plenty of equally good (if not better) geuezes at many other bottle shops if you know where to look.
It's been appearing more frequently lately, but disappears with a day or two. Some St. Lamvinus made it down here around the same time as Hommage, and 375s of the Gueze as well.
Just save up, fly to Brussels, much easier and you'll get some culture in ya', too. Thas' the way to do it, yo.
It has come into Total Wine twice in the last 4-5 months that I know of. You can buy it online as well if you want to pay a decent amount of money in shipping costs.
Kush in Wynwood had a bunch when it first opened. They had FF, LP Kriek, St. Lam, etc. all for really steep prices. I didn't buy any because I have drank my fair share of Cantillon and didn't feel like paying those prices. I went there maybe a month after that and only gueuze and Cuvee St. Gilloise were left. I doubt even those are still there, but maybe it's worth checking out. Keep in mind that Shelton Brothers has a very weak presence in South Florida. I rarely see any of the beers they distribute.
trappistworld.com is another place online that has it. shipping is insane, but if you want it bad enough...
Found this one at Total Wine about a month ago and when they had the 15% off single bottles deal so it was like $8 but one of the better ones I've had. Really great beer. 2009 version I believe... http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/47/5357/ Also grabbed this one at Total Wine (trying to check off BA Top 250s). I think it was more like $12 a bottle but was damn tasty as well... http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25923/70745/
Might be a little late to this thread; but The Mighty on Coral Way has Cantillon Gueuze in stock (their located on 2224 Coral Way, MiamiFL 33145). www.themightymiami.com
