    From Ohio Beer Blog today, and GLBC website;

    http://www.ohio.com/blogs/the-beer-...unces-christmas-ale-release-schedule-1.529663

    Fans of Great Lakes Christmas Ale will be able to get their first taste of the seasonal favorite on draft exclusively at the brewpub starting at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 21.
    The Cleveland brewery announced release dates this week for the popular holiday brew. Great Lakes will start selling bottles exclusively at the brewery gift shop starting at 10 a.m. Oct. 25. The beer will be released to the market on Oct. 27, and that's also when people can grab a growler to go at the brewpub.

    Interesting sidenote;

    Christmas Ale is only available eight weeks of the year but it is a major seller for the brewery. Citing IRI research, the brewery said that Christmas Ale was the No. 1 craft brand in dollar sales in the Great Lakes region and the No. 9 craft brand in dollar sales in the U.S. in the last 13 weeks of last year.

    Pretty amazing stats!

    Enjoy.......2 weeks and counting!

    I hear ya.....I cannot handle more than 1-2 of these kind of brews at one sitting......have to switch it up with a stout or porter!

    I still like Thirsty Dog's 12 Dog's of Xmas better.....supposedly the "original recipe" that used to be brewed at GLBC back in the day, when the TD brewer was at Great Lakes....both good holiday beers!

    I always liked this beer but, until recently, it was something I always had to "track down" if I really wanted it. Thankfully, GLBC has been getting a lot more of their seasonals on the shelves of big chain stores around me (Meijer, Kroger) so I should have no problem grabbing some this year.

    It definitely became a shelfturd last year, which was really jarring after having to hunt for it in the few years prior.

    That's funny my store just sent back expired Great Lakes Octoberfest and they are coming out with Christmas Ale already. I have seen so much expired beer from Great Lakes it's crazy. Don't get me wrong I know the beer is still good, but why would a beer named after the month of October expire in September? and they are releasing there Christmas ale I can't wait till the get our beer we had to send back.

    The most overrated beer out there IMO, ironically, their Oktoberfest (and to some degree their Conways Irish) are unheralded (or at least unappreciated (maybe because its a lager) I'm not just talking about GLBC beers. They just both happaen to be from that brewery.

    This beer is awesome. I love getting a six pack of this, 12 dogs, and 2xmas and sipping on them throughout December.

    I only got into craft beer earlier this year so I haven't explored the Christmas ale landscape yet. What are the top 3-4 widely available (or at least here in MD) Christmas ales that I need to try?

    Dude....way to highjack my thread!

    The "beer styles" on this website are helpful tools for your sort of question, though...see below

    For you "total IPA / DIPA" lovers.....have you tried this beer?

    One of my all time favorite "holiday brews"......
