Food and Liquor (or something like that) Ashland just north of Addison. $40 per/no limit. 4 prop/8 vanilla left. Didn't get any coffee. Businesses east on Addison may be getting deliveries as well and Whole Foods

Is it crowded, or pretty quiet? I'm at Ashland & Madison, trying to decide if it's worth driving up there.

I was one of the people who benefited from Archer Liquors' system, and thought it was great. I'd actually never heard of the store, and went there for the first time two weeks ago. They had some good stuff at reasonable prices, chatted with me a bit, answered questions, etc. I bought a bunch of stuff, and at checkout, the guy gave me some wooden nickels and a URL for info.

When I went back to buy my wooden nickel allotment, I found a couple other cool bottles and bought those in addition to the BCS. Even that day, despite the steady stream of repetetive BCS-related questions ("Do you guys have any available to the public?" "Can you set some aside for me for tomorrow?" "I don't have any wooden nickels, why can't I just buy some today?"), they were still friendly, joking around, chatting about other stuff they're selling, etc.

They've been pretty clear about the fact that their problem isn't with "beer geeks" or selling beer in general, it's with people who make a big show about patronizing local businesses, when in reality they only show up on Black Friday or on other release days, buy a bottle or two (or none, if they strike out), then vanish for a year because they resumed shopping at Binny's or Jewel or whatever.

Archer is a hike from my home and office, but after my first two experiences there, I'll go out of my way to head over there from time to time to pick up interesting stuff, because I like them, they treated me well, hooked me up with BCS, and are a quality local business that I want to continue existing.

And there are complaints in the forum about Binny's prices this year. :astonished:

Saw this conversation somewhere. Is dual pricing even legal? Seems discriminatory to me.

Customer : Hello, I am a regular at store xxx and live less than a half mile away. I want to express my disappointment in the price gouging that took place on Black Friday for the Bourbon County release. To give perspective, in 2013 I purchased a bottle of Goose Island Bourbon County Proprietors for 28.99 which was high but still fair. This year, I walked into the store expeceting a fair price, what I was told, $49.99, take it or leave it. I asked for them to reconsider but to no avail. I hope that one time $25 profit was worth losing a customer who is at the store several times per month. Do not support an establishment that takes advantage of its customers.

Store xxx: This year, we have had many people coming in from all over. We only gave our regular customers at that price of $28.99. As the owner, I told my Employees to only give it to the daily customers at the discounted price. Please feel free to contact me at xxx if you would like to pick yours up still at that price, again we value our customers but do not support people who are hunting it down.

I just called the whole foods on Ashland (just south of Addison). They only have regular available.

I think he may have been referring to Fine Food and Liquor, which is a little store on Ashland just north of Addison.

I'm going to blame it on the physical vessel as beers downfall, for me at least.
I can only pay so much for a "once you pop, you can't stop" container.

Wine you could at least re-cork and savor over a couple days. Expensive Whiskey I could enjoy for an extended period of time. So I think we're comparing Apples to Oranges, except that I never hear anyone else complain about this.

The switching, or staying-in, 4packs has me VERY excited as I'd rather buy a $30 4pack then a $15 bomber.
I can savor the 4pack but once I open that bomber it's all she wrote.

If Goose switches regular (which is all I buy anymore anyhow) from 4packs BACK to bombers like some previous years then I'm tapped out and will be forced to move on... would suck too as it's definitely a personal favorite.

They're out. Apparently I bought their last 4-pack of regular yesterday after work. Walked over there to grab some soup for lunch today, bumped into the same employee who went to the back to get the 4-pack for me yesterday, he made a joke about how he wished he'd kept it for himself.
