X-Mas Beer Surprises

My girlfriend's dad gave me two bombers of Double Bastard and I gave him a few cans of SoS. Since we live near each other, we do a lot of trading. I definitely lucked out in the future father-in-law department.

I was surprised how much I was hurting Xmas morning after 2 Christmas Bomb's, a Bourbon County Stout and half a bottle of red wine

The gf have me a bottle opener/multi tool for my wallet, her brother just tried a DFH 90 min and is starting to get into craft so he got me a gift card to the local shop and we went together while I told him about beer, my mom got me whiskey, the gfs mom got me a mr beer brew kit, and her aunt/uncle got me a new growler. Overall a great Christmas

 

Got a bottle of Hardywood Gingerbread Stout from one son, a 4 pack of Uinta Anniversary Barleywine from my other son, a bottle of Abyss from my buddy Tony (you are the man T!) and an awesome Beer Advocate T-Shirt (the one sold here) from my totally understanding wife! Great Christmas.

 

My bro who isn't really into beer much (besides sampling what I have here & there) got me a bottle of Bourbon County thru a friend. Definitely was shocked. Can't wait to have it (1st time ever)!

 

I read the title of this thread quickly, and saw, "X-Men Beer Surprises" and immediately had an image in my head of Wolverine piercing a beer can and shotgunning it.

 

My brother mailed me a bottle of Lakefront's 2014 Black Friday, along with the matching pint glass. And here I told him we weren't going to exchange gifts this year. Guess he'll get "payback" when I visit him this weekend!

 

so I kind of have a funny story no pic though and this seemed like a good place to put it. My father in law found a bottle of Velvet Merkin in the back of a store, and thought oh my son in law loves stouts I wonder if he will like this, so he buys it for me. On christmas day he gives it to me while we are with the family and I am like heyyyy good beer choice well done I like this one, and its cold so he is like well lets wait to drink it together later, so I end up leaving it at his house because he stashed it in the fridge and I was drinking wine with the family that day anyway, so I wasnt prob going to get into it, anyways last night we go to watch some sunday night football at this little pizza joint around the corner that we love called Tonys, and he shows up with the merkin, but I dont know he has it so we order a pitch or FW 805 and start to watch the game and wait for our pizza, then he pulls out the bottle and goes I think you should have this with your pizza, and I just look at him like really? VM , BA stout with pizza??? then I decided WTH!!! I didnt buy the bottle why not give a whirl, all I have to say is dang that beer is good with chili verde pizza, and I know what your thinking what a weird combo but somehow it worked we polished of the beers and the pizza and headed home, but that is kind of my funny beer around christmas time story. cheers, and Happy New Year everyone

 

I got a gift card to select beer store as well as a $100 to the local homebrew store South Bay Brewing. Pretty excited about both! Im sure the gift card will go to buying me something special and cannot wait! I did give my girlfriend a baseball Pizza Port Tee and a Belching Beaver Me So Honey Tee (I mean how can i resist). My secret santa at worker received a Belching Beaver gift pack with a glass. I also wrapped all my gifts this year in recycled beer boxes.

 

My wife nailed it. Open up a box that she is all giddy about and what's there, but 4 Plinys, 3 Blind Pigs and an Almanac Cherry and a strawberry. She got a colleague of hers in SF to ship all of it out to us in NJ.

I built my brother a six pack carrier and filled it with Sweet Baby Jesus (thought it would be an appropriate beer for Christmas gift)

 

My sister snagged me a bottle of Lakewood BA Temptress and got me a full case of Tank 7!

 

My daughter brought me back this from a trip to Asheville.....lucky Dad!

my buddy hooked me up with a Mikkeller Beer Geek Dessert. Fantastic Stout

 

My gf got me a stainless Drinktank keg/growler and for my birthday the following day, she planned an epic San Diego brewery tour with friends. We hit Societe, Council, Modern Times, Fall and Alpine and then headed to the Holiday Bowl on the 27th. Epic weekend and even better when tailgating with fresh nelson!
