Dark horse shot up to my favorite brewery in MI just because of this. A few months back I was talking to their brewers about metal music, I knew those guys were legit! I got tons of respect for DH.

Cooked Mike posted right here on BA about this back in 2010 asking what they should do. Man this is some old 'news', still funny though.

I seriously backed Dark Horse before hearing this but now I love this company so much more. Great quotes.

I'd rather listen to Nickelback than Slayer. But I forgot -- music that sounds like an industrial accident with some angsty dude screaming in the background is cruise-control to cool.

Plus, Carly Rae Jepsen. She just wants him to call her maybe.

Never had heard of this before but mad props to DH. Loved their beer already but I just gained much respect for the guys at DH for this one.

That's an awful description of Slayer (even though they haven't put out a good album in 20 or so years) and there's no excuse to listen to Nickleback!

I am far from a Nickleback fan, as in I can't really stand them, but they are actually buddies with the metal gods. Lead singer of NB was devastated when Dimebag got killed on stage. Dime was a friend and mentor to him. One of their songs was a tribute. But, if I was a brewer I would be hoping for Mastodon or Coheed and Cambria to be endorsing my beer. Or maybe Steely Dan.

I love Dark Horse even more now...And how does these two verses come from the same band:

You're beside me on the seat
Got your hand between my knees
And you control how fast we go by just how hard you wanna squeeze
It's hard to steer when you're breathing in my ear
But I got both hands on the wheel while you got both hands on my gears
By now, no doubt that we were heading south
I guess nobody ever taught her not to speak with a full mouth
'Cause this was it, like flicking on a switch
It felt so good I almost drove into the ditch
    I'm screamin'

    And...

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

    And I'm singing

    Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive
    Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive

That's the problem with them. Their lyrics are not clever or nuanced whether singing a blatant sex song or a "beautiful ballad". AC/DC and KISS knew how to write songs about sex that were funny and clever, not soft core ****. Also, their riffs have no rhythm at all, they are all coke-head-speed.

where do they make fun of Dark Horse in the video?

I don't even know the name of the song. I thought they had a brewery with a name making fun of Dark Horse.

If Dark Horse has no problem staying a micro-brewer in the economic sense and not maximize profits while still keeping quality like many much larger quality brewers have done, then it was a "cool" move by them to decline association with a band that is "too commercial".
If they wanted to become filthy rich while still purveying quality beer, the F'd up on that decision.
And anybody who would base a beer drinking decision on how "cool" the owners are have definitely drank the "craft"-"micro" kool-aid.
Viva quality beer and viva capitalism...BOTH can exist simultaneously.....Is Dark Horse the favorite beer of the "Occupy Wall Street" crowd? Seems it might be....hey, good slogan then; "Too ELITE for Wall Street"!!!!!

Wow...I guess that means i SHOULD drink Dark Horse!!!! That was very helpful in deciding what beer to open my wallet for.
Please advise on the "cool" bands i should listen to if I want to be a true "Craft-Brew" man.

While I loathe Nickelback's music, I don't understand why the tone is so negative from Dark Horse.

Nickelback seems like good guys, they seem to like good beer, and they support the troops with free shows etc. . . so what if their music sucks, why go public about it at all (unless you're trying to somehow shape your brand with the 'we're too cool for Nickelback' type of junior high cliquism stuff.)

    I understand saying 'no thanks'.

I don't understand slapping down someone for being a fan of your product and wanting to work with you.

Just like I understand when a celebrity turns down an autograph request from a fan/kid, but when they do it in a condescending manner, it just seems in poor form.

    i never posted that...majavo did.
but i agree with him, at least as it applies to one's decision making on brewskies......oh, no.."brewsky"; is that an uncool term for the true "craft-brew" crowd? i just wanna fit in, is all.

i was just being sarcastic about "cool bands for craft"...what i find amusing is the "too uncool for us" attitude at the expense of possible huge profit in dealing with otherwise nice fellas who may not exactly be the next Rolling Stones.

BEER!!!!! let us not morph into French-ified, snotty wine ****s!!!!
