Carton Epitome. I hope they make more of this. Heard a rumor that it was a one and done. Hope not.

I wouldn't be too worried about losing Surly Bender, Todd (head Surly brewer) has made it well known that it's his favorite beer that they brew ( in part because they use it as a base for other beers).

Here is an old reference where he said it would be 1 of 5 beers he'd take to a deserted island.

I got some this year bottled 9/5/14. One of my favorite Bell's offerings. The beer itself is amazing but maybe it needs a facelift as far as packaging goes.

For a 6 pack of (IMO) very good and ageable beer at a very decent price I am always surprised to see this sitting on shelves but I see it all the time.

The last couple years shorts has conducted a fan's choice poll to see which beer out of say 4 or 5 candidates will be included in the beer schedule for the following year. The last 2 years cup of Joe has been in the poll and has won- which makes many people wonder why it isn't just part of the regular brew schedule? It also seems to move off the shelves and disappear quickly so who knows why. In 2013 Captain Fantasy collaboration with half acre won.

Agreed on the packaging - it does look a bit bland.

I am always suprised too. Expedition and Third Coast are on sale by me for $14 a 6er, and are still sitting... hence my concern

    Alesmith's Nut Brown.

That beer is perfect. Too bad people are only drooling over Speedway variants. Actually all of Alesmith's stuff is perfect I need to buy more!

    This.

Plus 21st Amendment Bitter American. (Becoming harder to find. For example, Total Wine has completely stopped carrying it.)

I've gotta echo the call to keep Indian Brown Ale. It's my favorite year round dogfish 6 pack by far, and the elimination of raison d'etre makes me nervous about the stability of their core lineup. On a semi related note, bring that Tumbler back!

And SN Tumbler pretty much already bit the dust, unfortunately.

I saw that it will be on tap at the Stone store in Pasadena. Maybe they will be making another run of it? Great stuff!

These types of brews are still made but either under a different more international designation (ie anything resembling 70/ is now referred to as a pale ale-its the same thing for bitters in England) or under a brewery given name (ie Fyne's outstanding Dark Munro) without any mention of its style (ie 60/).

Still, young upstarts very much like American style IPAs (can't blame them really...), higher gravity stouts and playing with styles and 'innovation'. There's even a brewery in Aberdeenshire only producing Belgian style ales. Its all really welcomed to be honest though I hope traditional Scottish styles aren't abandoned completely in all the excitement.

Have you noticed any changes in the flavors of the newly named beers? Does it really matter what specific name/brand they use as long as the quality of the beer stays the same?

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet!

    Cheers!

To be honest, the quality of these new beers under their new designations and names have been pretty good. So you're right. I would never complain from that standpoint. Problem is more and more new Scottish brewers are giving traditional styles a wide body swerve.

“Problem is more and more new Scottish brewers are giving traditional styles a wide body swerve.” Does that just mean more non-traditional beers on the market? Or does that mean there are less of the traditional beers on the market due to these new Scottish breweries?

    Cheers!

Saw in a thread that Sierra's Keller Weiss is probably not long for this world. It's a really nice $8/six pack hefe. It would be a shame for that to go away. I don't buy it all that much, but enough that I'd miss it if it went away.
