I love having young kids, but this definitely makes me look forward to being an empty nester! Very, very cool.

I have quite a ways to go to catch up with most of you, but I just started collecting last month!

Hurts me to hear those words...beer is for drinking, not "collecting"!!!

Do you not 'collect' the beers prior to placing them in the cellar, to then later drink??

Obtain would be the correct word. Collect makes it sound like you will be hesitant to drink your beer.

It's a learning process every day!
I will make sure to use the correct vocabulary from now on. Obtain, acquire, procure. Just not collect, got it.

I collect bobbleheads. I collect shot glasses. I used to collect post cards , when I was younger. These are things I put somewhere to look at and admire (and get yelled at by my wife for not dusting them).

I buy beer to drink. I may happen to throw it in my cellar until the appropriate time to drink, but I never collect it. The words "collect beers" is just to me, fingernails scratching the proverbial chalkboard.

Here is my current set-up. Top is all empty bottles from some memorable beers. Left is the "drink now" fridge mostly with IPAs or beers I have recently pulled out of the cellar to drink. Also some home brews. Right is the wine fridge set at 58 degrees. This is my "prized possession" cellar. Only my top beers go into here.

Second image is a crawlspace below the stairs in my basement. Stays around 58-64 degrees year round in there. Note: Heady is in there for temporary storage and because it is currently really cold in the Northeast so its quite cool there. Eventually plan to add another bookshelf to expand the cellar.

I'm just renting now, but your upgrade makes me dream of owning so I can create a custom built cellar too. Well done, I'm super jealous!

Right? Whenever I think I have a decent cellar, I come here to be humbled. Or to show the wife my habit isn't so bad.
