Sounds like it. de Garde's release party thread is a big no no now also. Pretty silly.

    Very silly.

I can see industry folk abusing the site, but we have it pretty good in this forum. I bet that it will be up to Moderator discretion.

Wow... One of the great things I like is hearing from the brewers, especially if I haven't met them, see them all the time, or have never seen them. I also think it adds more to their standing, as they are willing to share and take the time to talk to the people who post.

This has never factored into moderating decisions on this site. However, we should maybe just see how it plays out because I do think that the NW forum in particular is moderated very very fairly compared to others.

To a large extent I can understand it. Our forum is well moderated and controlled, but I can imagine that some of the more populated regional forums could get out of control if a large number of breweries and beer destinations were promoting their events.

For the record, as I've maintained prior, we tell people here about our events so those interested (that aren't on Facebook) don't miss them. The beer, and now event reservations, will be sold either way, but we dont want our passionate regional audience missing out if possible! I'll refrain in the future as those rules are pretty clear. We should be updating our website with pertinent info such as events, tap list and bottles available in the near future as well.

On topic; licensing and build out of a brewery take a long time, and are hard to predict. Beer will come.

Seems like a brewery (@deGardebrewing , for example) would just have to format the info into a press release, then post that here. We could then ask questions that the brewery could respond to.

You are one of the few breweries that I actually check your Facebook posts on a regular basis - so hopefully I don't miss out. Also, I think others in this forum will post about your events pretty quickly, so you shouldn't have to.

IMHO-twitter is great for posting events and happenings.

I dont see the rules as being a no-no for de garde posting about their release...
its not spamming. Also, as @deGardebrewing said, it is well modded, @John_M would let them know if it was too much.

How does Trevor have the time to make 200 different amazing beers, drink with us, and post on BA + Talk Beer + ???

I consider myself fairly productive but it's almost 10 and (TMI?) I'm still in pajamas.

I think the problem with using FB as your contact point with customers is two-fold: A: Not everyone uses FB. B: I don't remember the last time I looked at an actual FB page. I scroll through my feed, if a post doesn't come up in my feed, I don't see it. I have dozens, if not over a hundred, breweries and bars on my friends and liked lists. I see updates from some in Italy and South America more frequently than I do some that are within miles of me.

Point is, FB shouldn't be your sole point of entry. Especially if you're going the crowd-funding route. Those folks want to know what's up.

Sorry to stay off-topic, as this thread kind of morphed...

I gather from the perceived tone of that post that they've had some spammy issues in a few of the main forums or subforums and/or aren't too stoked that some industry folks can/have promoted themselves/events/etc without paying, when BA obviously needs to generate revenue as a business.

I do fail to see, however, how something like industry responding that they have a beer on tap, in a thread inquiring into such information, could be viewed as 'spammy' by anyone other than the bros. That sadly seems to be the case.

I try to be very mindful of my role as industry in the forums, and I think this forum does a really great job of disclosure/discourse/etc possibly abused in other subs, and it is well moderated as well. If these rules prohibit the kind of posts Trevor makes or Oakshire re: Hellshire or even this very thread, I fail to see how this community is better served in their absence.

Agreed - I dont use facebook, but you can still view their content. However, you could make the same (perhaps even a bigger) argument that not everyone uses BA. There are multiple other beer forums out there, not to mention those that just aren't interested in those communication mediums. There is no perfect answer - their own website would be logical but that doesn't allow them to push content. Facebook seems the most logical.

Email is great for the reserve folks, but does nothing for everyone else. I think it's pretty funny people are already bent out of shape though. It's a long process, obviously

Totally, but I think people who are members deserve the updates the most - and I think the point that it is a long process might not be so obvious to those who don't have Facebook. Especially since their crowd fund site said otherwise (they said they would be open April 2015).

Edit: I'm not a member, but I do check their Facebook decently often.

I wonder how long this thread will get before anyone actually tries their beer. I hope it is, you know, good. If good is unavailable, I hope it is rare enough to balance out the taste.

The Reserve folks are the ones who kicked in a decent sum of money up front. In my opinion, that should earn them a bit of customer service above an occasional Facebook post. Something which says Wolves & People considers them more like investors, and less like a bunch of walking wallets.
