Ferment it cool, ramping to 68* to finish. Kegged within 14 days of start of fermentation, can dry hop it with 1-1.5 ounce of Citra. Have enjoyed dry hopping it with Amarillo, as the two hops really play great. Makes the Citra pop more. This recipe was put together by me, but it's a similar tasting beer of Oddsides Citra Pale Ale.
Looks great, I've got a 4oz pack of Citra in the freezer so this will be perfect. Maybe I'll buy some Amarillo and give it a whirl. I've got about a ton Golden Promise do you think that would work well instead of 2-row here? Cheers!
Sure, Golden promise will work. Maybe a little more sweetness to it, but should be fine. Amarillo makes it really pop, but isn't needed.
Thanks for the contribution. This one tickles my fancy, am brewing it in the morning. Appreciate the recipe!
It's currently dry hopping. Fermented out strong with a 1.060 OG / 1.011 FG. Kegging on Monday. Will let you know/add pics. Smells terrific (no surprise!)
Crap, forgot to come back with impressions. We kicked the keg of this last week, it was a hit. Stuck with all Citra, will try the amarillo next time. Checked my logbook, and fwiw mashed in for 60 at 151 degrees.
Did all Citra as well. Very active fermentation less than 24 hours from pitching yeast. Will move to Secondary this weekend. Really looking forward to this one
Just wanted to say thanks for this one. I have never used the hop bursting method before. Changed the schedule only very slightly and dry hopped with Citra as well. Beer came out great. Thinking this might be a nice one to add orange peel to akin to Citradelic by New Beligum. Maybe try the dry hop addition with Amarillo as you also suggested.
I brewed an extract version of this today, but I had some issues when my thermometer quit on me and it took longer to chill to pitching temps than my first batch. Hopefully all is well, planning on dry hopping with Amarillo.
I brewed this a few weeks ago. It was my first all grain after a 8 month hiatus. I changed it up just a bit. I went with 1.5 lbs of white wheat and subtracted from the base malt. I also split the hop bill between Citra and Mosaic. 1/2 ounce each using the same schedule and dry hop. Excellent stuff.
