While I do agree that the specialty Allagash sours like Coolships and especially Farm to Face are incredible, the price really isn't much different. Those Allagash sours are 375ml so if you're paying $20 for those, that's the equivalent of $40 for a 750ml beer. Obviously the argument can be made that you can enjoy the Allagash beers twice, but if you go in on a special release fruited sour with a friend, you can each pay $15-16 and have just as much amazing beer as the Allagash sours.

Stouts are pricey, but name some other 750m bottles of world class sours for under $20. Bruery sours are under $18 if you're a member.

Their prices are on par, if not better than most sour beers out there.

I can't speak for their sours, but their malt-forward offerings have all been worth the price (except sucre, found that to have an unpleasant tart flavor)

Sadly I live in MO which does not have Bruery distro yet(at least my neck of the woods). I've had enough Bruery beers to say that the beers you have access to are always worth picking up a bottle. I made it into IL about a month ago and debated for about 15-20 minutes whether to get Tart of Darkness or Or Xata.

Not all of them are worth it, it depends on what you like and what you want to drink. I usually split the cost with friends and share a bomber or two with them depending on what I can get my hands on.

Here in MA a bomber of Tart of Darkness is about $23 IIRC and it's a fantastic beer and makes for a nice, once-in-a-while treat.

However some of their other beers like the ones from the chocolate series are definitely worth the pricetag

I think they are priced right and are hyped appropriately. Not everyone loves The Bruery but generally speaking they make some good beers. Their $10-15 bombers are outstanding as well. I like Trade Winds, Rugbrod, and Saison Rue more than SITR, Rueze, Tart of Darkness. I don't think they are overpriced beers. At $18+ I better love it though! That's just me.

When we used to get them in SC, I tried a few (even at the hefty price) and really enjoyed them...haven't had the opportunity to lay my hands on any in years

I've definetly been on the fence in the past about thier prices for some things, but maybe that was a personal preference thing miss. But recently I traded for BT and imo it was totally worth the effort & sold me, now I just need to get my hands on some variants somehow. :sunglasses:

They have a system whereby you can designate a "trustee" to pick up your beers on site. The trustee can then ship to you out of his/her pocket. I've already got one person in NJ with whom I send care packages every few months and in return get large boxes of east coast rares in exchange for the labor/shipping. I'm sure you wouldn't have difficulty finding someone here to do the same for you.

what blows my mind to tiny peices everytime is that they have beers that can completely wipe the floor with their belgian counterparts, yet they have only been a brewery for 7 years.

i say don't let the price fool you, their stuff is world class and then some.

except for you know, or xata. yuck!

most of their stuff is worth trying at least once, if you like the style, but not all are worth buying on a regular basis

Just curious. Can you give a few examples of a Bruery beer, and its completely dominated Belgian counterpart?

Also someone needs to explain to me what world class really means one day, but that's a separate thread.

a lot of their big beers are really sweet. if that bothers you, then you will hate the price point and they will not be worth it.

I love big, boozy, sweet beers so I have no problem shelling out $30 for Black Tuesday (variants), Bois, etc. That said, I will only buy 1-2 per year and I drink them on special occasions.

Like a lot of breweries..they have hits and misses..wait and see if any of their beers are available on tap in your area and sample it to see if you'd be interested in full bottle..i did that with Autumn Maple,Rugbrod,6 Geese are Laying and a few others.
