Looks like it won a gold in some competition or other as a Blonde Ale. Other than that, I know nothing about this beer.

Does Jack's require pour into an imperial pint?

Another new one for me, do I have proper glassware? I'll keep it brief.

Not fortunate enough to taste Helles at the source but find this rendition delicious. Such a "pure" style of beer; clean and crisp with just a touch of bitterness and sweetness. Superb!

Below is my photo of Sunny Ridge (I think, not 100% sure) and I thought I remembered someone saying they use wheat in their recipe. I can't find anything to back that up, it's also quite possible they've improved/changed their recipe since last year. I've found with Jack's Abby they are continuously improving their more subtle offerings as their brewing skill matures.

I still detect a light haziness there. (Yea, I'm kinda obsessive about such things....)

I don't want a mistake that I've made to be carried forward - I did once see somewhere on JA's website that they used locally sourced wheat in some of their beers. JA replied to a BeerMail inquiry that I sent them and said that they no longer use wheat in their recipes.

I found my post of this photo from February 2014, commentary on the photo is quoted below. @herrburgess you actually "liked" this post, you must have agreed with my comment.

"For those of you interested in Jack's Abby. This is a picture of their first German Pils, Sunny Ridge, that I spoke about in my post above. Has a slight haze to it which I found interesting. Not quite crystal clear like the Pivo Pils was."

This may have been where I remembered it from. I'll have to grab some more Sunny Ridge and compare it to my "review" of it the first time I tried it. I felt it was decent, but not good enough to crack my favorite pilsners.

FWIW, Sunny Ridge is not in my top 5 of favorite German style Pilsner beers but I still enjoyed drinking it nonetheless.

Cheers to Jack's Abby for making a tasty German style Pilsner beer!!

I am not able to watch it at work, but here is a video from the Jacks Abby website on Sunny Ridge: http://jacksabbybrewing.com/blog/2015/05/jack-talks-sunny-ridge-pilsner/

The JA video beer still seems slightly hazy to me, but it also seems more pale in color than either of the beers shown on this thread -- all about the photography, I suppose.

Always excited to see brewers doing what -- in my experience -- is truly necessary to capture those traditional German characteristics.

Live Oak is supposed to make some great German-Style beers. Jester King, on the other hand...
