Beat me to it. I'm going to forward it to my friend who drinks whiskey with a rock formed from a Death Star mold.

As the bottle indicates you have to embrace the funk of Delicieux from Yazoo Brewing.

S - It has the aromas of both Belgian Pale and Saison. A mild leafy, floral hoppy scent along with Belgian yeast. Subtle straw, funk, and spices also creep in.

T - It begins as a Belgian Pale, but really finishes like a Sasion. The Belgian yeast stand out right away followed by muted leaf and floral hop notes. It has a very mild funk in the middle from the Brett, but finishes with a nice spicy kick.

M - Medium to lighter feel with some dryness. Carbonation is spot on to keep it feeling smooth.

O - A fun, funky beer hybrid to enjoy. I'm really starting to appreciate this type of beer.

Good afternoon my fellow NBS followers. It is a cool rainy afternoon way to long in coming to this parched section of central NH. Not sure how much of my lawn will make it back from this early season drought, of course I really don't care if it does as it means less time mowing the lawn later in the summer.

My new beer this Sunday comes from one of my trading partners and is a beer a probably wouldn't have tried on my own. It is from New Glarus Brewing Co. and is their Raspberry Tart.

This beer pours a beautiful medium reddish brown color when poured into the suggest champagne flute. The eye appeal of this brew when held to the light is absolutely stunning.

The aroma of the raspberries comes through even before you finish pouring. It is a aroma that makes your taste buds go wild just waiting for the first sip.

The raspberry from the nose comes through in the wonderful sparkling taste of this brew. If you are a lover of raspberries, which I happen to be, you will truly enjoy this beer. The raspberries don't completely overpower this just make it a very smooth drinkable beer.

The mouth feel is smooth and light with just the right amount of carbonation.

For a fruit beer which is not usually something that I would drink I found this beer to be wonderful and refreshing. I'll have to be honest I am wishing that I had a couple more bottles at this point. Not at all what I had expected when opening the bottle this afternoon, it turned out to be a truly eye opening experience.

I am hoping the rain continues here for the rest of the day as we truly need it. I hope it lets up enough for me to start the grill and make a few burgers for dinner later this afternoon. I hope you all enjoy the rest of this early summer Sunday.

New American-style Pilsener Sunday (week 536)

Rainy morning. A major downpour of thick and soaking rain jumped on me when I was in the cardboard roll-off, soaked me before I even had a chance to climb out to seek shelter. Ever get so wet that you decide it no longer matters if you get to shelter? That was me. Despite the rain my neighbors were out in force, and we had a cranking morning. Sometimes it gets crazy and dirty working with recycling, but I have been a green guy for a very long time, and it is work that always also leaves me feeling as though I have accomplished something good.

Even wet, I got a pretty good thirst going, and this beer, from the Saranac Summer mix 12 variety pack, is quite good and just hitting the fucking spot right now. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Understandable. I review most of the beers I have, but I also feel a need to make sure there is a pic of each beer on the site. Makes it easier for others looking for the correct beer. So far I have uploaded 115 pics to BA.

Good Afternoon NBS. What was billed by the weatherman as a wash out of a day here in North of Boston has been instead humid and just a little drizzly so far. Was able to go for brunch with the Wife, Baby, In-Laws, my Parents, and Brother. Nothing like overwhelming a small restaurant at noon with a table of 7. For those looking in from Boston, we were in the South End and went to SOWA afterwards (a really funky outdoor market, food truck stop, and craft good sellers). Onto the brew:
Picked up DFH American Beauty, mostly because of the way cool new logo on front of the large format bottle celebrating the Grateful Dead. This is a Imperial Pale Ale brewed with Almond Granola and Honey. Not sure how much Granola comes out, does taste very grainy earthy, but the Honey cuts thru nicely. Pours golden with good head and nice carbonation. Glad I can share this with my Father In Law who always likes to come over and try some new "Craft beer" (quotes used as I don't use this term, he does..so don't yell at me BA  ). Definitely a alcohol burn (8%) going on and am really liking this DFH offering. Tonight we head to the North End for the requisite Italian meal, so planning on a good dry Chianti to go with Dinner later. Happy NBS!!

Greetings fellow NBSers! After a sunny and warm week here in the Fourth Corner, today is a bit overcast, with a very slight chill in the air. The sun seems like it's trying to peek through, so maybe the temps will rise a bit this afternoon. One of my local breweries, Kulshan, has been hard at work on a new production brewery/tasting room. There was a FB post earlier this week of the first brew on the new system, and they opened to the public on Friday. I'm going to head of to K2 in a while and check it out, and I'll file a report later.

You may have heard that NBS BIF#2 is happening, and I encourage you all to join in. See my earlier post for instructions. Whomever my target in that BIF is, will be receiving some of Kulshan's beers, so y'all can look forward to that on 6/28.

My first entry today is courtesy of my friends Valerie and Steve, for whom I house and cat sat whislt they visited NYC, and returned with a 22 from a Queens brewery: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30452/148304/ . I was a bit whelmed by this beer, and my score is nowhere near the high ratings the beer receives from others. Shrug.

Happy NBS all, and join the BIF!!!!

I feel like I just got bogged down writing a review and drinking the beer at the same time that I never really sat down and enjoyed the beer itself. There's a healthy balance between the reviewing and the drinking somewhere. Now that I've found a happy medium I can actually sit down, enjoy a beer, and jot a few mental notes.

Good afternoon NBS! Starting my Sunday with a something I have been wanting to try for a long time, Dark Lord! Have to give @bstyle a huge thank you for sending a bottle my way!

    4.29/5 rDev +0.5%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.5

Big thanks to bstyle for this, have been wanting to try this for years
22 oz bottle, 2015, poured into a teku

A- Pitch black with a two finger mocha head.

S- Coffee, roasted malts, some molasses, vanilla, dark fruits/figs, definitely sweet.

T- Roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, molasses, dark fruits, figs, plums, slight heat and bitterness in the finish. Upfront is bitter coffee, middle is really sweet, could be more balanced but still enjoyable.

M- Surprisingly smooth, full body, slightly syrupy.

O- This is sweeter than I thought it would be. This is sweet, but doesn't taste like 15% ABV. I am very happy I got the try this, worth seeking out, definitely would like to see how this ages.

FINALLY! I feel like I've been waiting all day to get in on the New Beer Sunday action (because I have). I'm enjoying my first beer of the day; it's one I've seen on the site frequently as of late, and comes courtesy of @JayORear : Noble Aleworks I Love It "California" IPA.

Let's get right into it: this beer is all about hops (surprise, surprise). The aroma teases you with tons of new school hop notes (tropical fruit, dank herbs), but it's not overpowering.

The flavor is where it hits you: waves upon waves of hops. The tropical fruits hit first, carrying mango, pepper, and maybe a touch of pineapple. Mid-palate, there's a bit of citrus, with grapefruit pulp and lemon candy shining through. The finish is all dank, green, leafy herbs, but a little more restrained than others in the style.

All throughout there is a very nice bitterness, cutting strong on the end with a semi-dry finish, the hop oils lingering on a little longer.

You can definitely pick up the Amarillo and Equinox; Citra and Mosaic, I'll buy it, but they kind of blend in to the background with those other hop varietals (Noble claims to use around 8 hop varietals in this thing).

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22412/148850/?ba=Roguer
    4.26 / -2.7%

If I were more of a fan of the danker, herbal flavors, this beer would probably be around 4.5. As it is, it's fantastic. I haven't had a hop showcase tour de force like this, where they come at you in discrete, potent waves, since Heady Topper. (Emphasis added.)

    Cheers, NBSers!

    Three Floyd's Yum Yum

Nice looking beverage I have here with it's translucent dark maize color under a cream colored foamy head.

Nose is grainy with earthy hints. Tastes immediately just a touch tart with a chardonnay quality, less the oak. Following that little ride is a bitter finish tthat carries with it hints of green olive and the slightest touch of alcohol. Very unique this beer.

"I would say it tastes more like desperation or a concussion.", from your review of Wild Blue. I love it. I really enjoyed many of your descriptors in the review of Wild Blue, but this one so short, and to the point. Nice.

Strangely, I found myself wanting to try this beer as I read your review, it started to seem appealing to have a glass containing so much fail as you describe. I mean, who wouldn't want to try a beer that looks so bad you were wishing you could score Appearance in negative numbers?

Sierra Nevada Kolsch What can I say another excellent beer from Sierra Nevada. Light bodied, dry a bit hoppy almost a perfect warm weather brew. A guess a Kolsch purest might have a problem with this as Kolsch. Hard to believe they wouldn't enjoy it as a beer.

Mayflower Squanto. From Plymouth, Massachusetts (USA). A Farmhouse Ale. This is a new 2015 offering from them so I can post it on New Beer Sunday. A limited edition. This bottle was brewed in March 2015 and released in April 2015. So it is fairly new. Hazy, bubbly yellow color. And you get all of those Belgian spicy and toasted malt characteristics that your really love in the style. Light and refreshing body. Not tart or sour like some Farmhouse Ales can be. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

This is a local for me. Sadly, I didn't enjoy it as much as you. I felt the Mosaic overwhelmed the hop profile. Personally would have liked more Amarillo, and maybe the Citra.

I think I mentioned in the review, but if you have had/like Burton Baton, then I would definitely recommend it. Distinct oak notes. I still feel it was more similar to a hoppy barelywine, but I it was not refrigerated and I believe it was a early winter release. They were $1 each. That may make a big difference. Enjoyed it though. I also grabbed another to cellar.
I wish I had some pictures. Seeing is believing. :grinning: I drank about half of it though. It was like a train wreck that you couldn't help but wacth.

I personally found the Amarillo and Equinox dominant, but that could be timing. One thing I'm not enjoying now that I'm into my second glass is that there's a buttery component to the malt that starts to come out as it warms. I recommend anyone trying it out ensures that they have it pretty cold.
