Agreed, it's still a really good IPA. Used to be unbelievable. Lagunitas does a great job getting stuff here fresh too

I'll be heading into town from Des Moines,IA friday and heading straight up to Glenwood Springs for the Casey event. I've been poking around this thread and appreciate the recs for citra/tropical forward IPA's. I'll be flying in around 7pm friday and was wondering what the best place to stop on my way out of town to snag some stuff not available in Iowa. Looking for mostly APA/IPA's. Would love to try out some local stuff/thinking about stopping by Backcountry on my way up if its not too late. Thanks in advance!

The first time I had Fix Your Heel was at Falling Rock what....5 years ago?
I think there's still a puddle stain under the chain in which I drank that. Damn good and dry...up there with (former) Stand Up

EDIT: puddle because I wet myself. Ya see

Elevated malt forward? What did you drink a 2012 can yesterday?

Let's not all jump to malt-forward, non-Citra conclusions! People have been known to look mighty stupid doing that...:flushed:

Stopped at S26 a little bit ago. Had the Double IPA, Columbus IPA and H26P IPA. Brought home a growler of the Double IPA

Hey I'm not the only one who felt that way, read some of the reviews on this website.

Maybe I used the "malt forward" phrase incorrectly but the batch I grabbed two weeks ago definitely had a malt backbone to it. Not saying that's a bad thing but just isn't something I jump at with IPAs, don't get me wrong, good beer and for its style probably closer to a great beer but something I can live without

Elevated is hoppy as hell. And last time I was in Santa Fe, I found 1 day old cans at Trader Joe's.

    Hell, read their description:

what I think I'm picking up here is that Backcountry has the double IPA on tap, usually, on site, during these dry times for it in Denver stores.

If that is true, that is a good thing to know.

They put it in bottles for us in the winter when the ski traffic makes I70 a huge PITA. And they have it in draft for us the rest of the year, when the drive is lovely. Good plan.

I never said there arent any hops, yes, there is a a lot of hops! I like that about Elevated but there is a malt characteristic to it, not sure what more you want from me, fellas.

And for this thread: I had Cannonball Creek alpha Project #4 (per recommendations) last night, it's a great Colorado IPA just not sure how long it will be on tap for.

I wish it were that simple. It would have made my life easier. It's more figuring out how to be a production brewery in a brewpub+ facility. We just started doing those 4-packs last year!

Is Firestone Walker Union Jack in cans available anymore in Denver? Just looking to pick up a sixer on my way to the mountains and trying to find the quickest place. Maybe Mollys? Or will they not have FW?

The Backcountry DIPA 4-packs (and previously the 22's) are phenomenal, but that draft version is a work of art. Like Mebuzzard, I had it first at the Falling Rock, although a bit more recently. Maybe 3 years ago. It was a mind blower at the time. When the bottles hit, I'm guilty of buying up a ton of it.
The draft version's malt profile has more of a slightly sweet fresh bread note, while the bottled version is a little sweeter. Visually, the bottled version is a couple shades darker. The citric notes shine a bit more on tap, too.
However the bottled version is still great. I've done a blind tasting with some other big names and it's just as good if not better than far more famous examples.
