I'll be in Denver on June first. Where should I go to eat and drink in the downtown area?

The Falling Rock is the answer beer-wise. There are others, but if you only have one night - it's the best single option.

I'd start off with Euclid Hall or Freshcraft to eat and then walk over to Falling Rock to drink.

I'll second Freshcraft, I was actually disappointed by the food at Euclid Hall, but I'm all snobby and shit like that :grinning:

    Thirded.

Dinner at Freshcraft for great food and great beers and more beers at Falling Rock to top it off. And then a nightcap of beers at Star Bar.

Yah, Falling Rock and Freshcraft are first tier
Second tier throw in Lucky Pie and World of Beer.
Then, Ale House at Amato's, Bull and Bush, Star Bar,Euclid Hall

Guess I'll be the only person who prefers the food at Euclid to Freshcraft. No offense to either as both are solid. I just can't think of too many dishes that top the Euclid oyster po-boy or schnitzel down there.
Beer-wise, Freshcraft has them beat easily, though.
Depending on where you are, the Bull & Bush can hang with the downtown spots. They have good greasy-spoon type bar food with a 40-deep taplist and at least a few items nobody else does.

Good reco. on Bull & Bush. Never had a bad time or bad beer there. Plus if you do that it's close enough to me I might just go there haha

It just rubbed me the wrong way, trying to be pretentious as possible. Every single thing on their menu is "Look at us, we're taking something white trash and mixing it with something high class and you'll think we're brilliant." I was over that ten years ago.

Hmmm. Yeah, I guess I can get that. Seems every restaurant within 100 miles of here claims to be making "upscale bar food." I think I just like their version of the idea more. Plus, I always feel like I get plenty of food for my $, which I appreciate.

I'll give you that  I went for the food, but I stayed for the beer.

Nah, I like them too. Like most restaurants, there are a few misses, but I always leave full, have had a good beer and rarely am disappointed with my order. Same can also be said for Freshcraft.

Little off the beaten path, but I also recommend Steuben's in Uptown, Work & Class or Osteria Marco.

However, going to have to fall in line with everyone else and agree that you should stop by Falling Rock. If you have the room, I cannot recommend enough their 420 Sweet Death wings....they're glorious. Also, ask to see their bottle list if you don't mind dropping a little $ on something possibly special.

I'll take the food at Euclid Hall over Freshcraft but do agree with the pretentiousness critique. I am enough of a sucker for chicken & waffles, though, that I get past it.

It's safe to say Euclid Hall has better food but you can't go wrong with either. Also Jimmy's next door to Freshcraft has pretty good food too. Old Major, while not exactly downtown(neither is B&B) has some great grub. Or you can do the Acorn/Crooked Stave combo at The Source if you're a baller.

I'd vote Freshcraft food over Euclid, but I also prefer more "normal" food and not any weird foodie nonsense

Agreed. Fancy food is not for me. I laugh at a lot of menus in this town.

Eat at the Kitchen on 16th street mall. walk two blocks and drink at Freshcraft. Would also be worth it to check out tap list for World of Beer two doors down from the Kitchen

Surprised anyone thinks Freshcraft's food is actually good. That's one of the main detractor's for me there...the beer list is always good, but I always need to leave to eat. I definitely am a fan of Euclid Hall over Freshcraft for food. The Kitchen does have a great beer list as well, and their food trumps both Euclid...and of course Freshcraft.

Lucky Pie is another good choice for a solid beer list and no-fuss/decent food. Also, the Terminal Bar at Union Station has decent beer choices.
