Since the description for Black Wheat indicates that it's a perfect spring-time beer, another thought could be that they'll do some other kind of "Pie Lust" beer in the fall which would be their wheat beer for that season?

I'm hoping I'm wrong, since I would much rather welcome the return of Black Wheat.

Yeah, Pie Lust is a possibility, but I agree that it would be a disappointment.

It does look like Black Wheat was released in the spring on the previous two occasions.

I always thought that Dancing Man would be better for spring or fall given its strength, but that's just me.

I wish they would bring back Solstice Wheat for the summer. Such a great weiss bier. I was hoping Dan/Deb would bring it back (maybe under a different name since I see that Berghoff is still making their Solstice Witbeer).

This has been discussed. As far as Deb is concerned, Solstice Wheat and Dancing Man Wheat are the same beer. The ABV is a little different, but from her perspective, they are otherwise the same. I believe they moved away from the "Solstice" name because someone else was using it for a similar beer.

Would you mind pointing me in the direction of that discussion? Not questioning your claim, just would like to read more about it. To me, a beer that is at least 2% or higher in alcohol is a different beer.

Yeah, I mentioned in my post that Berghoff was using it--Solstice Wit.

I discussed Solstice/Dancing Man with Deb on Thursday morning of the VSB release. Can't say that I can find a lengthy discussion on BA on the topic, but here's one spot where I mentioned it back in 2013:

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/new-glarus-annual-beer-vote.106569/#post-1568318

Again, I didn't say that I necessarily agreed that they were the same beer, only that Deb felt they were (based on my discussion with her at the time).

Most youngins round these parts don't remember Solstice Wheat, but it was a delicious beer. I suspect there was probably a lengthier discussion on this topic before the great BA crash of 2012. It's a shame all that information was lost (at least to the general public).

I wonder if Dan feels the same way.

Indeed it was was. The Copper Kettle, while good, I didn't think was quite as good as Solstice.

I guess my main question/issue is whether Dancing Man's ABV is really 7%+ I wonder if they'll divulge if I ask. I've asked questions to them about other beers before and some things they wouldn't disclose.

I've always questioned the 7.2% ABV on Dancing Man. But, I'd actually question more the 5.75% listing for Solstice. FWIW, Dan has been forthcoming with ABV amounts when asked from what I've seen/heard.

My understanding is that you aren't required to provide an ABV statement if you are not distributing out of state. But if you do choose to provide an ABV statement (or are required to), there are financial penalties if the actual ABV is different from the stated by a prescribed amount. So for New Glarus, there's really no upside to providing ABV information.

Again, I think this is about perception. Specifically, Deb doesn't believe the (supposed) ABV difference on these two beers is enough to make them meaningfully different.

I remember drinking Solstice and liking it. I remember trying Dancing Man for the first time and thinking I liked Solstice better.

I don't recall drinking Copper Kettle. Not to say that I didn't, just that I don't recall. Perhaps Copper Kettle is what's coming back in the fall.

Does anyone still have access to some Enigma? Had one last night and it was excellent. Would love to set up a trade, or if there's some close to the border could just trek up and buy it.

Woodmans in Oak Creek should still have it. Call first, they'll check for you.

I made a big mistake on my NG hunting. I had no idea what price they were and figured most places would be within a $1-2 of each other. The I loaded up at first place I stopped at Mars Cheese Castle....big mistake. $15 a 4-pack and 750mL bottle. I had a couple friends ask for some after I left and stopped at that employee owned 24 hour place and they were each $10. I could have saved myself a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks for this suggestion. As I recently got word that a fb contact of mine may have a few Enigma bottles left who lives in IL, I'm starting to think I may not have to resort to doing that.

Good to hear Yokel was rereleased, again. Is Strawberry Rhubarb primarily available at the NG brewery only, or was it also released to Southeast Wisconsin stores?

Rhubarb is gone from the NG beer depot. You may find it lying around in random areas of WI, but most major markets are sold out.
