Really? I gave a bottle I just put in the fridge that's been sitting in the cellar for a year. Now I'm excited. Had low hopes for a $6 BBA bomber but I like some if their beers so I bought it.

Not had Java Cask or Sunday Morning but they sound like they could stand up. Big black voodoo is a top tier beer and cones in 12oz now for less than the bomber per oz. shackamaxamum(sp) is top tier with a year or do on it and it's cheap.

    Enjoy

Jackie O's BBA Dark App is damn close to being as good as BCBS.

Country Boy's Sinkhole Stout is unlike anything I've ever had, in a good way.

    18th Street:
    Bitches Bank
    Imperial Blud

Both fantastic RIS that hold there own and exceed some of the "big boys" in my opinion.

Brewtus is a coffee knock-out coupled with great pricing and availability.

Retribution is good stuff, but a bit pricey, especially for the variants. They've also pulled back and gone the brewery-only release route, instead of it hitting distribution, like it's done for the past 3+ years.

Outside of those, our state doesn't really seem to produce a lot of consistent stouts. The stouts we do make seem to be one-offs. So, there isn't really a big stout foothold in our state.

Vlad by Hailstorm and Joe Daddy by Pig Minds. Both very solid and very local. I also have to agree with @evilcatfish and @yesterdayfaraway . 2nd Shift does make amazing stouts. I always try to grab a bottle or two whenever I am visiting family in the St. Louis area.

Cellarmaker - Imperial Coffee and Cigarettes.

Technically a porter but might as well be a stout. It's a stunner. They just barrel aged a batch too.

Anchorage's Darkest Hour. Wish they had bottled that this year so I didn't have to stop in at the brewery three times a week.

Plead. The . Fifth. ABSOLUTELY on par with the big name stouts! Also Siberian Night. Chocolate Sombrero is also lovely and right on par with the bigger names.

Tallgrass brewing in Kansas has big Ricc. Very comparable to the big non barrel aged stouts. Try it!

As a Mainer, I love my local MBC Mean Old Tom for the amazing balance and very satisfying profile without any "over the top" things.

Local for me being in the twin city's area would be Surley Darkness, but just a little further out is Lift Bridge with their Silhouette, both regular and barrel aged. Both world class IMO.

For Alabama, I enjoy Straight To Ale Laika. The bourbon and cabernet barrel aged variants are excellent as well.

I was going to mention the Pizzy Boy Sunnyside Up as well. One of the best stouts I ever had.
