Then I guess it's less about perspective and more about geography... BOMB! I can find for roughly $7.29 any given day

I stumbled upon one of these left at Whole Foods over the weekend - it's a treat to stumble into something like this that you've wanted but haven't been able to find. Now I have to find a time to drink it.

I like Avery overall but this was a let-down for me, weirdly sweet and felt really unbalanced. Won't be a repeat purchase, but that's just more funds to put towards Raspberry Sour so nbd.

it was $12.99 (-$1.30 discount at my spot) here. besides lagunitas high westified, i haven't come across many bombers of a good bba stout for less.

Well....location is what I was referring to when I said perspective. BOMB! here is $8.99-9.99. I paid $7.99 less 10% for buying 3 qty on the Avery Vanilla, which is basically the same price you paid for BOMB!

I paid $12 for this, seems to be the norm for California. I think my expectations were a bit too high for this going in. I didn't get much barrel, vanilla was subtle, and body was too thin. But, at that price point I shouldn't expect to be amazed.

I've had it and it was okay. Only other vanilla beer I liked was Vanilla Shake by mikkeller. VBS didn't have that same in your face vanilla bomb. It had vanilla notes mixed with the roastyness of the malt.

It came out exactly as I expected. As a widely distributed BB stout that they plan on making long term the Bourbon was never going to be very noticeable. This was never meant to be a VR type beer.

Found this one to be quite underwhelming. Wouldn't go out of my way to get one again. I didn't find the flavors to be complex at all and thought it fell flat.

That's a 22 dollar six pack. There's no way in HELL I'd pay that for this beer, at least twice. It wasn't horrible but there are 1,000 better stouts for less than 22 bucks a six pack

I mean...sure it costs more but if barrel aging doesn't enhance the beer....why pay for it?

I think some people are missing that this is a stout and not an imperial stout. Don't be expecting it to have BCBS VR mouth feel or body.

It is an Imperial Stout. 10.8% ABV. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/155431/ And even if it's 9.2% ABV, like the original label states, it's still an Imperial Stout. It's just not a well executed beer.

My mistake. When I read the promotional material it implied that out of bounds stout was the base.

Got to try this last week. $12.99 for the bomber, at a grocery store(didn't have to go looking at a bottle shop or anything). I think a lot of people are being overly critical of this beer. I thought it was extremely good for what you get. I was able to pick up on both the vanilla and the bourbon. Is it Vanilla Rye? Of course not, but it is a whole lot better than most of the other year round beers you can pick up.
