Ocelot is definitely a Phish reference. Don't know about Aslin.

 

Ocelot has another ipa called Yellow Lemon Sun which are lyrics from the Pearl Jam song Jeremy.

 

Aslin is not a Phish reference. They explain on their website where their name came from. I'm also fairly certain Phish did not come up with the phrase "delusions of grandeur".

 

And Ocelot has a beer called Elementary Penguin, which are lyrics from the Beatles song I Am the Walrus. I think most of their beer names can be traced back to rock song lyrics, but not just Phish. Also, an Ocelot is a type of cat. It is not like that Phish song is the only thing named Ocelot.

Pretty sure "Ocelot" is a Phish reference though.

Some of these are phrases that are frequently used. But the fact that they are also lyrics in well-know songs from the same bands cannot be a coincidence.

 

They are not shy about their love of music and the connection to their beers. I mean their logo is a guitar pick after all.

Yes. Ocelot is definitely all about phish. The question was just about aslin in reference to their beer "delusions of grandeur." Realize that that phrase wasn't created by phish. Seems like it was just a coincidence.

 

They used to update regularly, not so much anymore. I just use Tapspotting to get an idea.

 

Ocelot has a box at the bar (next to the pole) where one can submit names for their beers.

Aslin is the maiden name of the three sisters married to the owners.

I really don't want to be "that guy," but I wish this thread would go back to being about area beer releases, and not just Aslin/Ocelot

 

Personally, I'd rather we had a thread discussing local breweries than one in which we broadcast the limited inventory of local shops for the truck chasers.

I get that. But look at the title of the thread. This entire page has been on how Ocelot and Aslin name their beers. If you want to talk about a new beer from them, go for it.

Also, trying to stay informed on new beers to the area that people may want and be looking for <> trucking chasing
