Gotta go with Westmalle - it defines the style for me, is plentiful and doesn't break the bank. If I'm feeling adventurous, I might try an American take on the style, like Tide and Her Takers or Long Strange Tripel (both of which are harder to find and certainly not cheaper)

Weyerbacher Merry Monks is such a dam good beer. Worth every penny plus it ages well. At around 50° it is so tasty. One of my top beers for sure. I had such a great experience with it and if you let it sit, every pour from the bomber gets more cloudy and intense as you go if you don't mix up the yeast. I cant compare to real belgian tripels because ive not had but if you are a fan of the style you should definitely pick some up. Not just for a tripel but such a good beer. How such a big beer can be so light is scary lol.

Actually, that's good to know. I'd sort of forgotten about my stash in the cellar for the past 8 months. Now I have a great reason to drink it up this weekend.

DFH's new offering, Beer to Drink Music To, is a tripel. I enjoyed it, slightly spicy with very nice vanilla notes. Worth a shot, and only $10 a 4pk.

I don't particularly care for tripels, but that didn't stop Westmalle from knocking me clean out of my socks.

I’m currently on a Fin du Monde kick. I love the stuff.

In my opinion that's gonna be true of probably any perfect [insert style]. Indeed, one of the things that quickly annoys me with a given beer is if it's not in balance, different styles have different axes they balance around and there is of course room for differences, but any one note beer or off kilter beer is not destined for greatness in my mind.

As to the general question at hand:

La Fin Du Monde is probably my favorite tripel but honestly it's been so long since I've had a tripel I'm a bit at a loss to describe why I liked it so much. It's time to revisit tripels as a style. Thanks for the thread, I also like being inspired to give much needed attention to a style that's been neglected in my rotation.

Tripel used to be my favorite style but I haven't been drinking them as much lately, probably coinciding with trying to save a little money on beer purchases. Lots of great Tripels mentioned already. I think Flying Fish Exit 4 is an excellent local version. I've only had Tripel Karmeliet and Westmalle once each, might need to revisit those soon.

Ashamed to admit I've only tried 5 tripels thus far (La Fin du Monde, Westmalle, St. Bernardus, Gouden Carolus, Capt. Lawrence). But even based on such a small sample size I can say that I do love the style. Karmeleit is currently at the top of my tripel wish list, and from what I've read above there are plenty others to add.

Belgian breweries certainly dominate, pretty much by definition. I do however enjoy the Long Strange Tripel from Boulevard's Smokestack series.

I've really grown into a fan in recent years. Funny enough, this is one of the few styles where I like the American interpretations better than most originals. I can't think of too many other styles where I feel that way.
My faves are from Elevation and Dry Dock. Lots of pineapple cake notes.

I have 2 750mls of 2013 Chimay white remaining in my stash. It's slightly past perfect pour right now but is still aged, smooth and tasty. I had a whole case. I missed out on the 150th anniversary, though.

Tripel Karmeliet is a stunning beer, and probably my favorite thus far. I've heard such great things about Westmalle's Tripel, so I feel compelled to pick it up soon to give it a shot.
