Now at 8 Silly beers drank and another 4 uniques left in the sampler pack of 9 that I bought last month on a Podge's tour of Belgian Family Brewers, I feel like I know Silly.

La Divine is worth a Look, an unusual amber for tripels. I also got a big, inviting head; but that probably spent most of the protein swirls. Smells are modest malt, mostly sweet. Tastes are balanced with bitter hops only playing a serious role in the finish and, even then, it is a minor role. Silly makes malty brews and La Divine is no exception. Medium-mouthed. Well concealed ABV.

La Divine paired very well with pasta and a red sauce. This ale let the garlic work, but also cleansed the palate. Having gotten a brewery tour by Silly's CEO and personally being a malt-head, I've appreciated their brews for a while and give Silly very good Overall Hugs. A Sante' !

I never tried this silly brewery before. But it's Belgian, so...
Pours a beautiful copper like a triple should, with a gentle head that turns into memory. The nose is also usual for this style: caramel, herbs, malt - that sort of thing. Although there is an off-putting scent in there too.
The body is nice enough initially, but then the taste kind of leaves. Somewhat muted, but it's okay. Bitter, peppery end notes confuse the style but still. Not the best, not the worst.

At my lady Pamela's house; bottled and slightly chilled, 330mL in a pint glass. From The Roundhouse Centre LCBO on Howard Ave. in nearby Windsor. Best before July 15/27. My 1st beer from the Silly, Belgium brewery. Lovingly embraced by Gracie the cat...

From a 330ml brown bottle. Poured into a pint glass.. A one finger fine tan head on a hazy dark amber. The head soon diminishes to a layer. Some fine lacing.

Some pepper, apple skins and old fruit in the nose. Tastes of fruit, bread and biscuits up front. Overall more earthy than most Triples. Alcohol is there but not dominant. A very dry, mild but distinct hop finish.

A medium body and low carbonation. Overall a fine Triple. It takes a different tack than most, leaning earthy and alcohol. Well worth a try.

330ml bottle served very cold into an oversized wine glass. Best before July 15, 2027.

Appearance - Dark honey brown in color, small off-white head is poured and fizzles out. Rather hazy and murky looking.

Smell -Powdered doughnuts, apple skins and a touch of peach. A light and inviting aroma.

Taste - Medium bitterness up front, hints of apple and yeast with bready backbone. Finishes a bit more bitter. Earthy aftertaste. A touch of pepper.

Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied with lower than average carbonation. Semi-dry to close and BAV still well concealed.

Overall - A well enough made tripel, but does quite the pop or amplification of fruit flavors that the best Belgians seem to. Nonetheless, a good beer and worthy tipple.

L- Quite deep amber, but right in front of a halogen bulb it reminds me of original Lucozade or orangeade. Pours with 1cm pale tan head, clearly filtered ie zero sediment at glass or left in bottle.
S- Surprisingly light, just feint 'beer'.
T- It certainly comes over as a Tripel, or between a Tripel and Quad. It has that base profile, plus deep rich roast fruit notes and is then into prominent ABV%, which leaves an 'ABV%-zing' across my palate and gums.
F- Rich, deep, some almost jam-like cooked pungent fruit notes. CO2 in the glass is now 5mm or so, holding fine. CO2 in the mouth is very light, notably less than I'd want or expect as typical for the style.
O- The physics of 'surface tension' suggest that beers of this high an ABV% are not optimal for gas saturation. That might also tie with why the pour was so simple and drama-free incl, initial modest head. Is this beer a genuine example of 'too much of a good thing'? The CO2 in the mouth being over-light was a notable -ve for me. Some people get all ecclesiastical about noticing ABV% on the palate, I'm usually ok with it after all I've paid to get some impact. However here it was naked and arguably blunt. I could drink this again but won't be buying more, there are many better beers of the style out there.
330ml BB ??/06/2022. Bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery.

Not tripel at all, but Belgian strong ale. Clear light copper caramel ale, some laces.Moderate esters and carbonation. Somewhere between silly and divine.

Pours a light gold with just a hint of a haze vs clear. Large head of foam settles to aboot an inch and ceases from there to recede.

It has the classic aromas of a Belgian Tripel. Hoppy, yeasty, earthy, yeah.

Tastes like it smells. Nice level of bitterness that compliments that Belgian yeasty character and overall so earthy. Dry as a bone in the finish.

Great mouthfeel and sooo drinkable. I am sorry that others don't get this beer as in recognize this fits the style so well. Yeah, Silly is pretty much an overlooked brewer but. ..this is delicious!
