I am starting to get pretty annoyed with the inconsistency to be honest. I LOVED this beer when I had it last year. Mind you, it was still solid when I opened a can last night, but it was NOT the same beer. Between this and the batches of Roller Blabe being crazy different, it is starting to make me wonder about them. It's not like it's a slight difference...it's like drinking a different beer. My wife even said last night, "I am just about done with this hazy, juicy IPA thing. I'd much rather drink a Bodhi."

If inconsistent means experimenting with different batches of yeast? Your bitterness at their popularity and Hoofie hate is comical at this point. Why do you continually troll this thread if you hate them so much? I prefer the original South and Musk myself, but its obvious they're going for a 'consistent' haze brand with all their IPAs now, for better or worse. If you dont like it, dont drink it.

According to their Instagram they are canning "Are We Having Fun Yet?" on Saturday. Anyone know if this is still the case?

I still love HH and the stuff they are cranking out despite the annoyances in the variation from batch to batch. I'm sure that will start to level out as they really focus in on the direction they want to go. That being said, this statement fits me (and my wife) exactly. Bodhi just does it above all for us. Hence why we named a dog after it. Not sure if that means we have a problem or not!

Um, I wasn't trolling. Their beers are horribly inconsistent. It's a fact. Even the batches with the "same yeast" or whatever have flavor and appearance variances.

As to your other comments, I don't hate them. I don't think their beers look appealing at all, even within the context of hazy beers. I think they taste OK and sometimes very good.

So I guess based on your comments I shouldn't take any interest in them if I don't think "OMG they're the best brewery Everrrrrr"?

    Seriously, who is bitter??

You're implying poor brewing practices rather than intended experimentation. They've been tinkering with their beers for a while and are obviously phasing out all the US-05, so of course there's going to be inconsistency. I wish theyd keep it for some of their beers but its not my call.

The old guard certified ciceronies and brewers all seem to hate the hazy style and scoff at the popularity and turn their noses up at it, but cleary it aint going anywhere.

I was talking with the brewer about the beer... Basically, new hopping techniques they are doing. The recipe for the most part is the same, but the yeast using new methods just doesn't flocculate out (as a homebrewer... Following some similar methods, I have had beers using very common yeast strains known for dropping clear stay hazy for months).

I thought the beer was significantly better than the first SoE release. I am all for the changes.

Don't automatically assume new yeast, hops, etc... Sometimes, it's just simply a change of process.

Remember, this is still a young brewery relatively speaking... They are going to experiment and change processes up until they are happy with what they are doing and it then will likely be more consistent. If you can't handle that right now, just go drink some other beer. Nobody is forcing it down your throat.

Wow. That is a lot different than the SoE I had on tap a few times last year. It reminded me of a mix of Bodhi-Creeper. Seems to be a lot of variation recently. Just wonder if it is intentional or not. I know I get pissed when I can't recreate a chili or soup that I liked.

Sounded like it was intentional based on some new hop techniques they are doing.

I love the logic of the hazy IPA trend "clearly it ain't going anywhere." Yeah, because it's been around for almost a whole 16 months.

Let's not get carried away with the hazy IPA craze. A handful of breweries are cashing in on this trend. The style probably represents less than 1% of the total IPA/DIPA offerings currently available. There's no evidence as of right now that shows the hazy IPA having any staying power.*

Are you by chance the same person with the beer photography facebook page that had a "certain exchange" regarding Hoof recently? If so, you handled that pretty well. It was kinda painful to see that happen. Also, if that's you, nice page!

And Treehouse and Trillium didn't just expand or make huge expansion plans? All the naysayers might as well be yelling get off my lawn.

    Thanks. Yes, that's me.

I have nothing against HH personally. And yes, it was very unfortunate that Ryan outed himself as someone who can't take an honest review. My issues with HH were minor. I did say the beer was "pretty tasty" but apparently anything short of being a complete HH fanboy is unacceptable.

Absolutely, because they brew excellent beers. You realize they brew some awesome non-hazy IPA styles, right? They were excellent breweries before the whole craze.

This seems pretty disingenuous, you said that EWS Citra "literally smells like a wet dishrag left in a plastic bag for three days", that hardly seems like something I would consider a minor fault. Probably poor form of Ryan to come in and try to defend himself but don't deny that you were being deliberately incendiary.

Also NE-style IPAs are absolutely here to stay, and one has to be pretty delusional to think otherwise.

But which are the highest rated? I'm too lazy to click the list right now, but I'm pretty sure that hazy rubbish named Julius is the #1 or #2 ranked IPA in the country right now.

This. Also, interesting that in 4 years on this site your first post brings you to this thread to promote your facebook and rabble against this trendy newfangled yeast and aggressive hopping techniques. Ha
