Packed up to see how heavy the backpack was last night. Wow, pack 3 bombers, a couple of crowlers, BCBS, some Breakfast Stout, Coffee DinoSmores and some water and you would think I'm never coming back. Either way, ready to roll on that 8am bus from Jak's Tap. Looking forward to sharing early and often. Bring the rain or any other weather. Who cares, its Dark Lord Day!

I'm a fan of the 5oz plastic tumblers from GFS. Bring a sleeve and never worry about losing a "real" glass.

Possibly the best post of the year.

Yea my backpack about pulled me backwards when I put it on last night. Had to pull out the Ground State I was trying to trade and the Abyss 12 because it's Abyss. Can't to get the Trillium and VR cracked in line to lighten the load! Ubering from the city around 815

Going to double down here. I took the same precautions during previous Darkness Days and my feet and hands were fine. Wouldn't be a bad idea to double layer socks and have sturdy gloves. Your hands will get cold after so long in the wind and rain.

Also, don't drive if you don't need to. Enjoy guest taps as much as you can, offer bottles you bring and take whatever anyone offers you, always finishing with a "cheers" and "thank you."

Otherwise, try to stay chipper and remember you're in it for the long haul.

Just some good old convention wisdom as a reminder.

Does anyone know if Jaks serves food in the morning? Trying to figure out if my friend and I should eat before heading over. We're on the 8am bus.

I know they were serving beer last year at that time.

I too was curious about the food situation. Definitely need some fuel prior to drinking

    DLD 2016 final preparations:
    1. Beers for tomorrow chilling (and a few being consumed).
    2. Listening to GWAR.
    3. Laying out outfit for tomorrow whilst realizing that it will never actually be seen under the two layers of rain gear.
    4. Admiring my sexy new rain boots (Amazon'd this week specifically for DLD 2K16).
    5. Checking the backpack's structural integrity.
    6. Planning out hourly details while scanning kodt's satellite overlay map (knowing I'll end up getting there and just doing whatever).
I hope I'm not missing anything. Please by all means chime in and let me know!
*disclaimer - hoping this will push us closer to page 100...

You got your pre-drinking food plans set? I'm trying to figure out the optimal breakfast to pound on the drive over, which will leave me full enough not to instantly black out but also light enough that I'll want to drink enough to black out.

Not my first DLD, but never drove. There is parking available at the park across calumet correct?
Any idea how much? Does it fill extremely quick?

I'll be leaving later on to drop my allocation at the hotel then shuttle back to the fest.

My buddy and I always go with old faithful, aka Egg McMuffins, pre-drinking at the beer festivals. Something about the greasyness that fights off the initial alcohol.
