Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

With so many great Shorts beers it must be tough trying to figure out what to bottle next. If Aorta makes it that'd be great, if not I'm sure it'd be another great Shorts Brew!

 

So, I don't mean to brag (heh, I'm totally fucking bragging) but I think that my wife just found the last sixers of MMB in Michigan, at Value Center in Redford.



I had no idea they carried limited releases and never would have thought they did. Learn something new every day.

 

@ScottatShorts please sir, if you could pencil in Aphasia (or whatever you would call it now) for the fall/winter, you could kindly take all of my money.

 

Yes, please! It was amazing fresh and it aged incredibly well, I'd purchase loads of it. Just thinking about it is making me drool.

 

No problem finding it here in Chicago if you are really needing more and feel like taking a drive.

 

There's 266 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of Melt My Brain, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.

 

Next variety pack has been announced, to be released mid-July:

"Our next variety pack will be released in mid-July and will include:

• Kolsch 45 - Classic Kolsch
• Blanco Suave - Belgian Wit brewed with lime, agave, coriander, tangerine peel, and grains of paradise.
• *NEW* Mule Beer - Ale brewed with ginger and lime.
• *NEW* Guess the Dry Hop Local's - Local's Light dry hopped with a mystery hop variety. "

It wasn't mentioned in the newsletter, but from the packaging it looks like Short's is doing a Guess the Hop Contest for the Dry Hopped Local's. If it's not Citra (holy cow Citra Local's was good) I'm hoping for Mosaic. Ever since I had Upper Hand's UPA last summer I've thirsted after that tasty hop.

 

It looks like there may be yet another late addition to the 2016 release calendar.

It is on tap at the summer beer fest. It is Sweep the leg Johnny!

 

This is a potential variety pack beer. It did not make the last pack though so I cannot say if it will or not in the future.

 

Love ESBs. Hope it makes the cut. Also, I can't wait to try that Mule Beer. I might have to buy multiple variety packs if it ends up being a hit.

any updates as to when the spruce pils will be available?

 

It was in the newsletter for mid-July as well.

"Try as we might, we couldn't go a summer without brewing Spruce Pilsner. So we found a little room in our schedule and got to spruce tip picking! Look for this brew to be released in Michigan in limited quantities in mid-July."

 

I might have to make a return trip. ill be in mid mich july8-10 and then in the UP 10-16...might be just a bit early unfortunately.

 

Mid-July seems a popular time for trips up north. I'll be hitting Short's on the 16th and a bunch of TC places after.
If you haven't already had Upper Hand, I suggest picking up some while you're in the UP. Cheers!

 

Between Melt My Brain, Blanco Suave, Mule Beer, Cerveza de Julie, Ocho de Mayo and Key Lime Pie, they are definitely getting maximum mileage out of limes at Short's in 2016.

Side bar: if I had realized how much I would enjoy MMB, I would have bought a lot more. Would LOVE to see that one in cans for next year. Great summer crusher.

 

Well, they haven't done a Vodka Gimlet Ale yet.
Yet.

 

Or a Mojito beer. And while Odd Side beat them to the punch, I think the market still has room, as that one was only okay in my book.

 

I just want Peaches and Creme to come back.
