didn't go. going saturday and planning to arrive before 11. hoping they are still doing deceiver to go on saturday so i can get a couple crowlers of that and a couple crowlers of laser raptors. hoping that since laser raptors is unknown, the lines won't be quite as long and the beer ends up being amazing.

Aslin Deceiver with Raspberries and Vanilla was the shit - first time I had tried one of their non-IPAs and it was amazing, I'm not even a stout person at all. I got two crowlers and only waited about 45 minutes while I went through a taster and a schooner. Arrived about an hour after opening and there was no line - I think they had sold out of their Berliner Wiesse crowlers though.

Also had one of the worst beers I've tasted (has anyone tried "The JAM" from Bluejacket? Their Hoppy Saison was not enjoyable at all, but I'm sure there are some out there who loved it.

    Cheers

Anyone else have an issue with the Berliner crowler? Buddy had his resealed and then it exploded in his car on the way home.

looking forward to when this opens:

    https://www.arlnow.com/2016/06/30/new-beer-garden-coming-to-old-building-on-columbia-pike/

BrickHaus, a new beer-centric watering hole and restaurant, is coming to the former Blanca’s Restaurant space at 2900 Columbia Pike, at the corner of S. Walter Reed Drive. Tony Wagner, the owner of BrickHaus, is also the owner of Twisted Vines Bottleshop and Bistro, which is located across the street at 2803 Columbia Pike.

Wagner said BrickHaus will be a beer garden on the first floor, with some 20 beers on tap and an approximately 30-seat outdoor patio. The second floor — the mezzanine — will be a sit-down steakhouse.

I wonder what the base beer will be for Blueberry&Vanilla?
Will it be as good as the Peach+Vanilla was, or will it be as bad as the Blueberry IPA from Lickinghole was?

the base for peach & vanilla was mind the hop. i imagine they will use one of their existing ipas as the base beer for blueberry and vanilla and then add the adjuncts on top of it, with mind the hop most likely the base again. that would mean this one will also be 9.4%. i'd like to see them make a milkshake ipa with champion of the sun or astro zombie as the base beer, so it has a more drinkable abv of 6.2%. although MtH w/ P&V was pretty damn drinkable.

I was talking to one of the owners a few days ago and I'm pretty sure I remember him saying this one (blueberry + vanilla) would be a single IPA base.

these are the kind of beers that Aslin differentiates themselves from Tree House and Trillium with. the peaches and vanilla was a jaunty jubilee.

Aslin is way past haze... all their IPAs I've had have been straight up gravy opaque. I tried to ask about what oats/wheat balance they used, but I got a "I don't remember much about the grain bill right now...". Uh-huh

Both Deceiver with Rasp and Vanilla and the Berliner Weisse are now out of crowlers (bar only, no fill). Still great beers though.
