Saranac Kolsch This beer is pretty much what I expect an American Kolsch to be. Light straw color, nice white head, aroma of malt and hints of fruit , taste is the same, medium body with a refreshing and dry finish. This is a nice enough beer but there a better American Kolschs to drink.

Back with my first beer of the day. It's not strictly new to me as I've had several cans now, but it is the first time I've reviewed it. Another Fort George beer, it's the 2016 edition of 3-Way, brewed in collaboration with Barley Brown and Melvin:[IMG]

A very tasty beer that was much anticipated and discussed on the NW forum, it's very good but not quite what I'd consider a "wales bro" beer. It IS a very good IPA for a warm day. Plus, it's the closest I've yet gotten to a beer from the other two breweries.

Although I've got at least one other new beer on hand, it's something that will keep for a future NBS. I may walk over to one of the several breweries within walking distance (I love being able to type that) and have something new. If I wind up not posting another new beer, have a safe holiday weekend!

    New Saison Sunday

Happy NBS everyone! For my first new brew of the day, I had a good local saison from Seventh Son Brewing: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31408/238758/?ba=bluejacket74#review

And it also came in a 750 ml bottle, so I'll also be posting this on the 750 saison thread that @zid recently started. Good timing for me to drink it!

I'll be back on here in a little while with another new brew. Cheers and Happy 4th of July!

New Amer. IPA Sunday (week 593)
Greetings fellow NBSers from on the ridge in Mid Hud Val, NY. Killer morning at work, cardboard the star of the show, almost like the week after Christmas, is their some kinda connection between July 4 Holiday and cardboard? Had to deal with the smell of gas in the heat as I was too busy to check every engine and someone slipped one with gas in tank past me and into the 40.

Thirsty! Thought this beer would do the trick but it's like drinking a soda when you're parched, you end up thirstier and with a bad taste in mouth. This. Beer. Sucks. Would love to leave that as the whole review but you know I won't do that. Review below pic.

Hope you have a better American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Pours a slightly cloudy light amber with some whipped cream looking head that hangs around and leaves ample lace.

Sweet tangerine and grass, light caramel sweet, some spicy grain notes, and orange zest make a decent aroma.

While the aroma presented all the flavors the taste is a blend and it is muted, sorta muddled, with a juice character that almost hides the beer character. It is all tangerine and orange juice with little bite, complexity, or malt character to make it work

Light body, high carb., and overly viscous with a finish that is artificial and awful. Worst feature of this beer by far, kinda turns an okay beer into a gee this sucks beer.

This beer sucks, don't buy it, get something, anything else.

Maybe I'll get too much enjoyment out of other things today and not get back (after all, I am technically having a 3-Way...)

Happy 4th of July weekend NBS players. Straight killing it here on the island with a nice summer day that is not to humid at all. Just having a little bbq with a few people and I've mostly been preparing for that. Pretty simple thou with burgers and corn. Now I'm relaxing and watching the mets beat up on the cubs, 8-1.

My new beer today is another pull of my beer club box. The beer is a pale ale from Butte Creek. No apparent bottle date and a 5.5%abv.

A golden amber pour with moderate carbonation and a fast head. The nose is winy, with malt and sour mash. Crisp and clean on the start with a slightly hoppy/bitter finish. Decent flavors of lemon, grasses, roasted barley, herbal tea, and bread. The balance is there but neither side is all that strong either. The mouth feel is moderate and holds up well. Not watery at all.

Overall, it's an ok beer. The flavors are a bit muted together but it's cold, crisp, sessionable, and refreshing. It really drinks well with the summer weather but I think you can say that about a lot of average/below average beers when you in fact simply enjoy beer. I'm in the low 3's but I'm enjoying it.

Greetings fellow NBSers! A cloudy day here in the Fourth Corner, as we eagerly await the start of our summer on July 5th. Got out with a friend a couple times this week, one day we took some beers and went to a local wetlands that has a nice over-the-water boardwalk, where we had beautiful views of Mt. Baker: http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/wildlife_areas/whatcom/tennant_lake_park.php

The next day, we went and picked up our friend Jim out in Kendall, and after stopping for some beers alongside the Upper North Fork of the Nooksack River, we went up to Artists Point: https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/Baker/ArtistPoint , threw a few snowballs, had a couple brews while staring at the volcano we had observed from a distance the day before. We headed back to Jims, where we cooked up some steak and brats, and, as you might guess, had a few more brews. A pleasant couple of days indeed.

My first NBS entry is courtesy of @smanson56 and his LIF box: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/41923/185670/?ba=beertunes#review . Got a couple other things available, I should be back in a few!

You have forced me into admitting that while I shared with close friends every other of those excellent beers you sent, this one is put away for me alone, and when I am in the kind of perceptive and clear palated mood I occasionally experience I am going to open it. And yes, of course, on a Sunday. Your description makes me anxious to open it!

Nice to forward a pseudo-to-full whale without trying it. I am sure I had a little try of this at SAVOR last year, and it didn't jump out at me at that time. Then I got to try Foolery at The Answer earlier this year and was damn near blown away. Definitely want that beer again, but it also opened my desire to "retry" Trickery. I forget if they are related recipes or not, but it doesn't matter.

Your review makes me think Foolery will be more my thing, but I'll be happy to test that hypothesis. If you've had Foolery, what did you think?

12oz bttl into "perfect pint" glass
    bb 10/16/16
L- clear amber with thin white head which dissipates almost immediately, nice lacing
S- malty with hints of sour-ness
T- caramel malt, followed by ever so slight sour apple, with a malty finish with some slight tartness along for the ride
    F- light- bodied, crisp
O- this beer is definitely Fat Tire with some tartness, so on that they did a great job, however i was looking for the tartness to outweigh the malt, but the tartness barely checked in

    Cheers!!
