The BB Backburner was indeed fantastic. I got lucky to find a good trade partner to send me a growler to Texas.

This sounds like that may be a bit tougher to pull off. lol

No bottling or release...these were strictly test batches.

I find it hard to believe that NY is not even in the top 10 beer states in the union. Especially w/ breweries like Ithaca, Southampton, Brooklyn, Sixpoint, Captain Lawrence, Keegans, etc... I would think Cali, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, and Oregon would be tops, but I thought NY would be in the 6-10 range. Can you shoot the top 10 list out on here, just curious.

this is probably irrelevant but i couldnt help myself...Keegan's really puts out some poor offerings with the exception of Jo Mama's milk - man that hurrican kitty tastes like metal. Im on board with being surprised theyre not in the top 10. Southern Tier is is a pretty big production now and consistently puts out a great product.

I'd put these states over NY: Cali, Oregon, No-ILL, Michigan, Penn, Flow-Rida, Colorado, Minisoda, Wisconson.....

Vermont and North Car are arguable.

I am biased in that i hate every ST beer i've had though. They are hurting the states reputation.

Agree with all your choices. Disagree about Southern Tier, some fine boundary pushers on their beer list.

Some people put Sixpoint on list of NY brewers but they are a Pa. Brewery, contract brewing at Lion, with a business office in NY. Though they do their best to hide this information, Sixpoint is brewed in Pa.

I wonder what type of schizophrenia this beer will be. [IMG]

. . . minus the brewery, and all the beer brewed there (small proportion that it is), in Brooklyn, NY, no?

A question that is analogous to Sixpoint- If I sold 100,000 Cadillacs last year, and 1 Lincoln, am I a Cadillac or Lincoln dealership?

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not a huge fan of contract brewing either, but I also don't think it's fair to say that Sixpoint is a "Pa. Brewery . . . with a business office in NY"—they've been a small brewery in Brooklyn since 2004, and started contracting from Lion Brewery, of Pennsylvania, almost two years ago (in 2010). Most of the Sixpoint beer I drink is brewed in Brooklyn, because I don't buy their cans that often. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Sixpoint beer I drink simply materializes inside of an empty keg in the corner of a "business office."

Do I have to host a peace talks between Dave and Fran??? If so, I am not bringing Sixpoint....(or Keegans or Saranac)

With that being said, Florida is not a better option for a Top 10 state...I totally disagree with that one.

Haha, nah it's all good. Regarding FL, I don't have a TON of exposure to FL breweries / craft scene, but I may move there in the near future, so I'll form a solid opinion on that soon.

Yeah man it's all good. I love to stir this pot because plenty of breweries do what Sixpoint does, but they are the only one to do it so egregiously and hide it so stealthily. Shane Welch himself was on here trying to defend it. Every can, not most, all, are brewed in Pa., and IIRC some of the kegs with outside of NYC distro are brewed there as well. When they print this info on their products I will stop having a problem with it.

I am not a huge ST fan either, but they brew solid beers across the board.

Still stand by my opinion that NY should be on the back side of the top 10. I agree with most of the states you listed that should be above NY, but Florida, come on they have like 2 well established breweries (Cigar City and St. Somewhere). Other than that, not much going on.
