I don't get the argument of lowering allotments in the context of this past release. The vast majority of people weren't maxing out. Seemed like a mix-case was the average for most.

I also don't get how people can criticize Sand City's tactics as being bad for business when they sold about 280 cases of beer in a few hours on a weekday with a constant stream of people.

Call me crazy, but I think they're doing just fine and that they will continue to do just fine.

Release this Sunday: Fade to Jade, Infinity+ONE (Galaxy and Mosaic hopped DIPA), and BA Rebellion bottles.

    Time for a second fridge.

Knocked the limit to four 4 packs, good move, more people get the beer and less likelihood of longer line.

Yep. Was just gonna say this. So many releases coming up but think I'm gonna substitute OH for SC this weekend.

I think it's generally good policy to do limits lower than a case per beer if you're selling multiple beers at one time. Four 4-packs is more than fair.

Really itching to try Infinity+ONE. ONE was easily one of my top 5 IPAs of the year, and that's not just counting NY beers. Really excited to see that Sand City is gonna keep making variants of it.

This is really a craft beer Renaissance in NY right now though. Pretty much impossible to "catch em all" with there being so many incredible choices out there right now.

Either way, between OH, Sand City, and LIC next week I'm gonna have a lot of amazing beer to share with family and friends for the holidays.

Is anyone from Brooklyn/Manhattan planning on driving to Northport this Sunday? One was quite possibly my favorite DIPA of the year, but living in BK without a car, I have no idea how I'd get to/from this release... Would be happy to chip in for gas!

Wish I had purchased a ticket along with my 4-packs. I'll be there the hour before the party starts until they kick me out.

Wonder if they are only letting ticket holders in, tickets were free, there will certainly be no shows.

They should really knock it back to 1 can per person so everyone can try it.

Interested in this as well...or a ride from Northport LIRR. Really been wanting to go to Sand City and this release looks phenomenal.

And you and other line lovers are the other end of the spectrum. This isn't chronicocdadvocate.com or pokemonbutbeeradvocate.com. I don't want to read a brewery thread and see umpteen updates about the line or people guessing how long the beer will last or people saying "I'm going to be in town in 6 weeks - how long will the line be" or which store just got the latest Grimm in and how many cans are left etc etc. Equally frustrating to me as people complaining about line culture is to you. But we all get a voice right? That's the point of having a forum.

I mean you actually say at the end that the discussion should be focused around how long the line is. Fuck that. By all means start a "lines and beer hunting" thread to keep that crap out the brewery threads. See? It works both ways.

But the forums feed into the lines. As much as people want to admit it or deny it, BeerAdvocate generates hype for sought after beers.

This is basic economics. Very high demand + very limited supply= lines. This isn't going to change until supply outweighs demand.

Don't want to wait in line? Don't want to chase cans throughout the city? Don't want to read about it? Well I've got great news for you: you're an adult and just about every decision you make regarding craft beer is completely voluntary. You can avoid the forums just as easily as you can avoid the lines. You can't say "we all have a voice" and then talk about how you don't want to read about certain things because you don't like them.

Did you read the post I responded to? He/she says people that don't like lines shouldn't be mentioning it in forums and should start a separate thread to complain about lines. I was just facetiously pointing out that you can make the same argument going the other way.

People should of course post their opinions in the forums. That's my point.

Since you decided to respond to me though - please never use the "Econ 101, supply and demand" - it's so overused on here and makes people seem dumb. And I generally enjoy / agree with your posts.
