-> Poll #7 <- determined that English Crystal Malt (~55L) is IN.

This poll will decide whether English Dark Crystal (~80L), English Medium Crystal (~45L), both, or neither are added to the recipe.

The combinations are unique. Plurality takes this one.

I recommend you think about this in terms of not only your personal preferences, but also in the context of the ABV and Final Gravity (and thus the attenuation) already selected, malts already selected, and fermentables still possible, as well as any possible yeast strain selection that might be kicking around in your head.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

If you have issues with or suggestions for methodologies used in this project, please send them via beermail. Let's keep the threads themselves on topic to the question at hand and not about how you would have asked the question differently.

The Averagely Perfect ESB Recipe so far...

    Target ABV: 5.4%
    OG: 1.053
    FG: 1.012 (77.4% Apparent Attenuation)
    Grain Bill:
    ---Maris Otter
    ---English Crystal Malt (~55L)
---English Dark Crystal (~80L) possibly in, English Medium Crystal (~45L) possibly in (TBD, this poll)
---Sugar, Sugar Products, and/or Honey possibly in (TBD, future poll)
---Munich and/or Vienna possibly in (TBD, future poll)

Voted for Dark - no point in having both 45 and 55. Also would be happy to add golden syrup down the road.

I wanted 45 and 80 originally. Didn't want a lot, so I will add a little 80 here in hope to add a few ounces.

Still trying to wrap my head around what Golden Syrup is. Caramelized sugar (sucrose)?

It's a type of Treacle - think of it as caramelised invert sugar.... or "light" molasses

I personally would prefer only crystal 55, but I suppose both 55 and 80 would be alright in smaller amounts.

Got to admit I was wrong about no one voting for C80 to go with C55.
    Very pleasantly surprised

Calling this one a few minutes early for English Dark Crystal (~80L).
