Monkish Brewing (March 2017)

I thought the first batch of City of the Sun was quite juicy, as far as an adjective for flavor goes. Did it taste like "juice" the product? No. But did it give off the taste impression of juiciness? Yes.
One of the first beers I had that I thought tasted like actual straight up juice was a single hop Amarillo beer from Stone that was like straight OJ.
Remember tastes are subjective and palates are different. Stone straight up named one of their IPAs "Delicious" and you may completely disagree, so it's nothing new in the marketing world. YMMV.

 

I haven't dismissed them. Just said I don't appreciate the way they choose to market some of their products.

Think their stouts and sours are good, albeit a bit overpriced for what they are.

Haven't seen the marketing for any of those other ones and thanks for pointing out that MT has used the term previously, before the craze. Having said that, from what I recall, the last time I had Heady maybe 4-5 years ago, it seemed unfiltered and somewhat turbid, at least compared to the Pliny I had traded for it.

Didn't get the 1st release of City... but the most recent canned one was terribly unimpressive in every measure. In my opinion, of course.

I asked earlier, but didn't get a response, when would it be best to be in line on a Friday to guarantee take away beer?

 

Well, there's no can release this week, so the bros won't be lined up. "Take away beer" I'm assuming means a growler fill? They open at 2 on Fridays. You can be there at 1:59.

follow their IG. they announce the releases 1-2 hours prior to opening. As soon as its posted, Id start heading over.

 

Glassware sells out fast online too huh? Jesus. Had 2 glasses in my cart and Out of Stock pops up...

 

Perhaps Monkish should retire the IPA program and just manufacture glassware and flat-billed caps. They could probably keep that going for awhile.

 

Your best bet is just getting a growler of whatever they have on for fills. Doubt there will be a can release on Friday.

Bought 2 boombox glasses mistakenly and got email about my order getting canceled. Luckily, a lot of ppl did this and they said they would put them back up for sale a couple of minutes later. Scored a boombox glass and a 5th anniversary glass.
