So, I really like our Midwest unfiltered bitter hop bombs of IPAs. Within the past year, however, I've been lucky to try some IPA's that are just out of this world due to their balance of hoppy bitterness and juicy citrus. Cigar City Jai Alai, NEBCO Gandhi Bot, and Heady Topper to name a few. I know Heady Topper is in a world of it's own and I can't/won't find an equal. SO here is my quesiton:

What IPAs can be regularly found (any brewery...not just local ones) in Chicago that have those "juicy" and hoppy qualities all in one? Not just the massive hop bombs that are being released. I'll start the list:

    1) Revolution Crystal Hero (you can smell the grapefruit and orange and soon as you pop the top)

crystal hero can be regularly found? Thought it was a one and done. To my knowledge there isnt a "juicy" year-round IPA or (DIPA) in the midwest. Zombie Dust (though technically a APA0 or Huma-Licious might be the closest thing we got year-round and not quite sure they follow in the 'juicy' category.

Now if your talking chicago, anti-hero & daisy cutter are the best we got year-round and again not sure they are 'juicy.'

Yeah, this post is dedicated to all the teachers that told me
I'd never amount to nothin', to all the people that lived above the
buildings that I was hustlin' in front of that called the police on
me when I was just tryin' to make some money to feed my daughters........

I'm not sure how often or how many Hero "variants" are gonna come out. Either way, we need more juiciness in the midwest Gawd Dammit!

Not an IPA at all, but I'd also consider Akari Shogun from Half Acre to be super "juicy." It is a very hop forward wheat and to me, it is all fruit and juice...and year round!

Similarly, not an IPA, but pseudoSue from Toppling Goliath is another year round, hop forward, juicy to the max midwest APA.

I wish Crystal Hero was year round. That beer blew me away with it's clean, crisp, refreshing juicy/fruity profile!

The most recent batch of Abrasive was really awesome. Too bad that one isn't year round.

Doesn't fit your requirements, but Sidekick and Daisy Cutter came to mind.

Double Trouble, even going on two months old, certainly fulfills the requirements.

My brother in law left me an Akari Shogun a couple weeks ago to try, and I was not expecting much since I am not a huge fan of wheat beers. I was pleasantly surprised when I popped the top, and was smacked in the face with the smell of hops! I agree with the citrusy fruity juice character. Good stuff!

I'll say it first, Akari Shogun is better than Gumballhead.

There is a bunch sitting around still. Saw it tonight at 7.99. One of the better "juicy" and super easy drinking IPAs in the Midwest...

Dos Osos was the shit too.... Also 7.99

Plenty in the cooler at the River North Binny's. Drinking one now and it's still very good. The aroma is a little muted now (no kidding) but there's still lots of carbonation, lots of juicy grapefruit flavor, too -- and still very enjoyable!

I've never even had Heady and I am still willing to disagree. Double Trouble just never did anything for me.

I had it for the first time this past release. Solid beer, but nothing that blew my mind.

If you're just looking for beers available around here that are "juicy", try a Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA. Not sure how often they brew it but you should try it now while you can.
