Looking forward to it! Hopefully being ready and fast on Sunday will be enough to nab a VIP ticket. I'm a little warey of bots but I doubt there'll be bots checking out for 250+ people (if any).

Okay, I'm still very much trying to go because truthfully nothing material has changed since my initial plans. I still don't think it's cool that VIP went from $150 to $165, which is really $175 since they passed on the eventbrite fees to customers.

So basically VIP is $5 more expensive than buying an allotment with a GA ticket. It's basically paying $5 more and in return you get your allotment put in a bag for you that you could maybe pick up between 9 and 11AM? GA keeps looking better.

And I wish I understood what the "facility fee" covers, especially since they make a point that gratuity is not included (and I mean, there are volunteers here too who get swag for their time and I don't really feel like a jerk for not tipping them, but that sucks if the servers aren't getting any kind of gratuity at these prices). I might be looking at it wrong but that's what I'm seeing with the final post here.

Am I the only one that thinks it's stupid for Veil to imply there should tips/gratuities for what is essentially a ticketed beer festival?

I mean ^^ nope, I agree. I don't need to see the breakdown like they provided. But going that far, including money for charity, making it clear if you break your $5 glass you have to by an $8 non-limited glass etc. etc. and still not including gratuity seems weird. Especially since it'll be a mix of staff and volunteers. I bet it just means we see tip buckets out at the bar so ultimately who cares I guess?

I think the $7 fee is reasonable, I imagine there's additional logistics involved in running a festival that goes beyond normal operations.

I find that hard to believe since you want a future breakdown of the facility fee. I appreciate The Veil for being specific and taking the time to breakdown the cost, it's nice to know where your money is going to.

I was fine with the way it was spelled out before. $xx gets this swag, these pours, these beers. Leaving it at "some proceeds to charity after expenses" is fine with me.

When they raise the price then itemize everything as if they're justifying the increase, and there's still a nebulous fee that wasn't shown before, it raises the question of what the fee is. That's all.

My issue is really with implicitly guilting the customer "you should be tipping" for an event where you're pre-paying for 6 of the pours already and are going to be buying tickets for the others. It would be a different story if this was a cash transaction for each beer, i.e. more like a normal service scenario.

I don't really see it as "guilting", since you SHOULD be tipping the servers. I don't see how it being pre-paid makes a difference. I guess they could have paid the servers more for the day, increased the cost of the event, and told everyone that gratuity is already included. I think this way is better though, as the customer retains control over gratuity paid.

If anyone is going that doesn't want the beer allocation, I'd be happy to help. I can't make the festival, but definitely want the beers they're including.

This batch of Master Shredder is amazing (as was the last one), I love The Veil for making this. I wish they would do more beers in the 5-6% range.

No issues grabbing tickets online but they appear to be sold out. If you missed out remember that carts expire after 15 minutes so keep refreshing.
