It definitely is starting to. I really enjoyed FW Fortem, but not quite as "juicy" as some others. Unfiltered Sculpin now. The part I don't really care for is the jacked up prices and the brewery only stuff. Somehow MT can distribute Accumulated Knowledge for a reasonable price, but the special releases are more expensive and we have to pick it up there. I realize these are businesses but as consumers you have a wisen up and not be gamed into stupid crap.

Elaborate joke or not, they're kidding themselves by not brewing an IPA by now what with their India Pale Lager and other heavily hopped beers.

At least they never had a prominent sign hanging in the tasting room.

    Monkish sounds more stupid honestly.

Based on the untappd logs, @BruerJoel created the account for offshoot 3 days ago and he does the moderating for it. I guess you need more proof than that dont you? Also, we deleted Skull Tavern a long time ago so sorry to do that for you.

If Offshoot is a joke, what is the point of collecting people's contact information?!?

Would that only be necessary if the business is operating outside of the facilities of the bruery/terreux in its own location or does it need it regardless?

That's a lot of work to be messing with all the hop heads out there. Especially the hazebros hapheads.
So another no IPA brewery does the unthinkable. But instead of putting it under their OG brewery name they opt to give it a new name. They did the old bamboozal on us. There are only a handful of beers from the Bruery I like. But haven't had any of them in over a year. I'm gonna be in the area this afternoon. I will do a drive by and see if it is real or not.

The Bruery and Bruery Terreux have separate ABC licenses due to being two locations (but are the same entity), where Offshoot is produced within those licenses. Legally, it's owned and brewed by The Bruery (not a different entity), but the brand from a marketing perspective is separate from The Bruery and Bruery Terreux. I realize it's a bit confusing.

    Cheers,

OK. You got me. If this is an April Fool's day joke, I'm going to bite anyway. Regardless, I love your beers and love you guys. You're my first and perpetually favorite beer club. Looking forward to the anniversary party.

PS saw you at Rare Barrel during SF Beer Week but felt like to much of a fanboy to come up and say hi to you. Probably should've done that anyway....

Well, you can't continue an April fools joke beyond April fools day so....consider me convinced. I'll be at the bruery this afternoon - looking forward to trying these.

OBC is the real deal. Working on the Delayed Gratification. DG is not for the hazeBROs.

Update: Perjury is my favorite of the 3. Crazy good west DIPA. The other 2 are good as well. They will be fine. Glad they are doing a mix of different style IPAs and not just sticking with the haze Craze like the other guys. Good move Patrick.

Okay so all 3 offshoot beers are pretty good but honestly both hoppy obligation versions and the rye hazy pale ale are better than all of them imo.

I just don't think it's a great name. Dumb is not the best term if you're taking me literally, which you seem to be. Dull? It's dull.

Seems like they could have come up with a better-sounding, more interesting name. How about keep it in the French-themed world of the other two.. like a French term for something that means the same thing. just my 2 cents. Still gonna drink the beer.

Shrug. You used the word "dumb." I might be taking you too literally, but when you say "the name is dumb," it doesn't leave a lot of room for nuanced/alternate interpretation. Maybe if I knew you better I'd know what you were really getting at. But I don't. That's why I asked.

BTW: I agree with you that Offshoot is not necessarily as distinctive/original as The Bruery or Bruery Terreux. I look forward to seeing the brand develop.

Those are good possibilities if their intention was to keep Offshoot under the "Famille Rue" brand. They might have very good marketing reasons for putting so much distance between this brand and their others, in terms of naming and visual style. I'm not saying that's what they're trying to do, but I'd love to hear more about the development and strategy behind the Offshoot brand.

couple of alternate name ideas (in keeping with difficult-to-pronounce French terms)

Rejeton Rue - rejeton is offshoot in French

Projet Parallèle - side project in French

La Maîtresse de Rue - maîtresse is mistress in French. this is fitting because mistresses are common in French culture, and the idea of Bruery having a separate IPA brewery on the side is kind of like having a mistress

Enfer Surgelé - hell frozen over

Brume Frère Brasserie - loosely translates to Haze Bro Brewery
