Well done, @cjgiant. My submission today is from one of the iconic breweries in our little corner of the interwebz, and one of my favorites, especially when their availability (everywhere) and their price points (very competitive) are considered.

The first SN beer I had was their ubiquitous Pale Ale, and I was hooked. I proceeded to Torpedo (phenomenal) and Celebration (more phenomenal), and now will be reviewing my 77th beer from this magnificent brewery. Yes, I'm a fanboy, so take that into account whilst reading this review.

This pours a slightly hazy golden straw color with a finger or so of slightly off-white head. The aromas are giving me citrus - maybe Mandarina Bavaria hops? If so, I'm gonna love this, because I love that varietal.

The taste is citrusy, with orange and lemon flavors prevalent, and a Kolsch flavor, probably from the yeast. I'm really enjoying this - it would be a great crusher to drink on a hot summer day, but there's some body here, so you probably shouldn't crush too many. Well done by Sierra Nevada.

    Kane Sneak Box

Thank you, @cjgiant, for the great start today and for helping carry this thread forward.

Today's appropriately-named new beer came to me as part of a ninja box courtesy of @SammyJaxxxx. I've enjoyed all the other ones, so I have high expectations for this.

Sneak Box pours a cloudy light yellow-orange with four fingers of yellow-tinged head. Heavy lacing.

Grapefruit, tangerine, pith and a hint of pine in the aroma.

Light tasting with the same citrusy elements from the nose. There's a lightly juicy finish, just about perfect for an APA, followed by a lingering pithy bitterness in the aftertaste.

Light bodied with just a touch of creaminess and strong carbonation in the feel. You really feel the bubbles in the back of the mouth -- noticeably more than I like to.

Overall, this is an excellent light, juicy, citrusy beer. Less sweet than Boat Beer, so I could see having a few back to back more easily. I also like how they go with the label APA rather than Session IPA. Thanks, Greg!

So once upon a time I got to go to SN as a VIP. After a completely free meal we got a tour of the brewery that most people never get to see. During we got to try an experimental beer that they made 4 kegs of. It was a BA narwhal that after that they put into rum barrels for a few months. It still is the best beer I have ever had and the most limited beer I will ever have the pleasure of trying.

What was supposed to be the start of a string of saisons was delayed due to almost picking this up last week, seeing the review on the BA homepage last week and worrying that it would be gone before I got back to it so it is a new brewery Sunday.

Vigorous pour generates a healthy tan head that breaks at the edge of the glass intensifying the color. The dark brown liquid allows no light to penetrate. (3.75)
Herbal aromas are faint but there (3.5)
The beyond the roasted malts, lurk very different flavors that are hard the place except that there is a homemade, secret family recipe quality to it. (3.75)
The chewy feel has a bit grit that drives the rustic quality home. (4)
What could have been crazy and overdone was nicely done. (3.75)

Vigorous pour yields a 3/4 inch white head over a mahogany body with minimal lacing. Nose of grapefruit, sour apple, more citrus, and a hint of oak. Taste follows nose, nice and tart with a finish of tart prunes?!? Nice feel at first, and overall I can not believe this is 12% abv; not in a million years!

    Hello New Beer Sunday!

I just got back into town after a day that could be described as: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good: I got tons of new beers, and some old favorites of mine in Wisconsin today. I also got to, finally, visit the Lazy Monk Brewery in Eau Claire. What a fun time there.
The bad: The reason why I went to Wisconsin really crapped out, and except for the beer, was a 100% waste of time.
The Ugly: I own, along with my business partners, a small restaurant in central MN. I'm almost always there. I work 6 days a week, and a lot of hours there. It's generally a 1 person job. Today, the person who was scheduled to open the restaurant was late - by an hour! He got there a half hour after we were supposed to open. I found out about this when I was about to Wassau, Wisconsin - 4 hours away. Yes, he's fired, and, now I'll be back to working 7 days a week. I'll be so damn happy when our lease is up in 2020, and we can get rid of the damn millstone around our necks. It's impossible to find quality help, and I doubt we will hire anyone else.

So because of the day, it's now time for the beer. Not only a new beer, and a new beer to the BA system, but a new glass also.

    Lazy Monk Irish Red Ale

What better way to break in my new Lazy Monk Glass, by using it for one of their beers.

This Irish Red is amazing. It's very rich flavored, and it also has a hint of smoke. I'm so glad I picked up a 4 pack of it, and I'll enjoy the other 3 down the road.

This beer pours a nice red color. The head was minimal from the can - 1 finger, and didn't last long.
The nose is subtle, but I do get a slight malt scent. I also get a smoke scent, as well.
The taste is very interesting. There is a bit of smoke in this beer. I also get a pleasing malt flavor.
The feel is actually pretty full bodied. Not much carbonation, but a nice, smooth, feeling going down.
This is a delicious beer. All around very damn good. Very good purchase.

Got to try this beer a couple months back, and though I found it a little sweet for how I like my saison (as it is styled here), I did enjoy it. I got a lot of apple and less of almost everything else. But looking at your review and a couple others, I've been looking forward to another chance with this beer, and now I want to see if I get a few more aspects that others have noted - like the level of the yeast profile and a peach presence.

I'm not one to give into hype. That's probably why I never had one of these before. (Also probably the same reason I haven't had any Other Half, Tired Hands, Tree House, Trillium, yet.). Anyway, I'm just glad I stumbled upon this without actually chasing it down. It's quite worthy of the good reviews.

I also found one of these.

I like the early 90s style label. The beer is about what I expected. A weizenbock with a Lagunitas hop profile. I wasn't a big fan at first but about halfway through I thought it was "pretty tasty". I guess gulping down an 8.7% will do that to you.

I also got a Baxter Brewing 12 pack variety pack but I probably won't break into that tonight.

    Cheers everybody!

First off this was my first attempt at opening one of these waxed bottles, seems like it's a brewer's method of childproofing. Finally got into it and was assaulted with a blast of yummy funkiness. Brett, oak, plums maybe. Pours a brownish red with minimal head. Taste follows but not quite as tart as I had imagined (good in my book), some tartness but more of the wine barrel and musty oak flavor, as it warms it gets a little more tartness. Really enjoyed this one and thankful for the chance to drink it.

First off congratulations to Sergio Garcia!!! Good on ya!! So glad to see him win a major!!! On what would have been Seve's 60th birthday, seems proper!! Second new beer this new beer Sunday is Almanac Sasion Delores. Seems correct for the style. Admittedly not an authority on Sasions it's good. Nice and light with that banana finish that the Sasions I have had have. Great summertime beer! [IMG]

Good evening NBS, hope everyone is enjoying the end of the weekend once again. Thanks to @cjgiant for getting us started off this morning, and making an awesome intro write up. Another normal weekend over here of beer reviews and overtime work. Put about 6-7 hours total in both afternoons. Laundry and bottle returns this morning. Going back to visit family next weekend, so I will be missing out on next weeks fun, but I will be reading as usual. Will be time for a nice haul down in Ohio, so I can't wait to see what is new and exciting in the beer stores down there.

    New Beers:

Fantastic saison! Haven't had anything from Dubuisson in a while. Amazing head retention and thick lasting lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big lemon zest, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, peppercorn, wheat, biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good sized peppery yeast spice, and moderate herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; very crisp finish, with balanced grainy wheat creaminess and hop/yeast stickiness in the mouthfeel. Moderately increasing bitter/spicy dryness. Never astringent. Highly complex and well balanced between yeast, hops, and malts. Incredible and very classic tasting saison. Refreshing. Apparently this has 3 types of hops, yeast, and malts. 4.23
    [IMG]

Awesome hoppy pils! Great lacing and head retention. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/piney hops; with some cracker, bready malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Light-medium bodied; balanced grainy malt and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing sticky hop dryness, never astringent. Super vibrant and dank hops; with a crisp, clean, and refreshing finish. Tastes like Mosaic!! Would definitely buy this again. 4.1
    [IMG]

Toasted pecan Milkshake stout. Great stuff! Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, toasted pecans, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark bread, and light coffee. Slight herbal hops, and a bit buttery on the pecans. Light hop/roast bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied with nice creaminess in the mouthfeel; lightly silky and chalky roast. Minimal dryness. Very flavorful and quite rich for 5.25%. Great authentic pecan flavors! Delicious all around, will grab more for sure. 4
    [IMG]

Bottled in Dec 2015 for all I know, never had anything from this brewery before. This was awesome stuff! Aromas and flavors of big tart lemon, lime, green apple, peach, papaya, guava, melon, berries, grapefruit, white wine, wood, tequila, hay, straw, and grass; with some balancing cracker, bread, agave sweetness; with lighter notes of leathery/musty funk, pepper, and white vinegar. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light tannic oak spice on the finish. Light-medium bodied; balanced grainy malt and lactic acidity in the mouthfeel; touch of salinity. Increasingly lactic/drying finish; eventually turning sour and lightly puckering near the end; but never astringent. The wild/sour complexity is top notch! Really well balanced without being enamel scraping on acidity. Very easy drinking. Nice barrel presence. 4.1

Cheers, have a good night NBS.

    Unexpected New Beer Sunday

One of those beers I have had often enough, but until the three I had tonight, didn't realize I hadn't reviewed. I am not adverse to Corona or this light version. I am going to add a lime wedge to it every time, and that was the case tonight. Light golden color, clear, with a simmer of bubbles as the lime is forced down the neck of the bottle. No real aromas other than the spritz of lime zest I just created. Flavors are mild, faded grains and a bit of citrus, very mild bitterness and sweetness. For me, easy to drink and inoffensive. Way better than Bud and many American contemporaries. Even though I rated it as straight average (2.5 across the boards), I am waaaay over the rDev. Well, like I implied, of all the adjunct and light lager choices out there, Corona and Corona Light are probably the ones I like most - but I can't recall ever having it without the lime...

    More to come...

Ok, I'm in Lakewood WA visiting my son and had a few different new beers this week.

This one is a first time canning from 3 Magnets in Olympia WA. It's Sunstorm, it's a super hazy wheat IPA done with Citra, Chinook hops right at 6.3 abv in 16 oz cans.

Pours crazy hazy, no light at all, a pale orange 1/2 to 3/4 inch head. Nose is slightly off, I'm guessing it's the wheat. Not terribly bitter, but nicely balanced. Crisp fits this beer up front finishes nicely, enough malt for harmony, with maybe a touch of orange rind kinda bitter at the end. The head thins pretty quickly, but it does retain about 1/8 inch. I'm hit or miss on wheat style beers, but I like this one a lot. I'd recommend it and buy it again, even at the steep price of $16/ 4 pk.
