But...they don't do growlers.

Morbid Angel now (since David Vincent left) would be killer. Would be cool if they somehow got some bands playing Maryland Deathfest to come. Bands like Candlemass, Autopsy, Root, Grave, Exhumed, Oranssi Pazuzu, etc.

 

I know if I were to witness someones stash getting raided, I would definitely intervene. I cannot stand crap like that and hope others would do the same.

True, but I'm hoping that if I ask very nicely a couple weeks beforehand for just a 32oz fill and explain where it's going, they'll accommodate one of their quite regular customers.

 

I don't have a cooler backpack. I know it's not ideal but how have normal backpacks worked for people? Just use ice packs and frozen water bottles?

 

Yes. Backpack has served me well with a few frozen water bottles and an ice pack. However, the last few years have been on the colder side. With it being in May, might have to add more ice packs.

 

My water bottles were still partially frozen at the end of the day last year. I plan to use the same backpack this year.

 

Back-pack has worked well for me also. I place my camelbak with ice in it, as well as 5-7 bottles for shares. As I consume the bottles (most before entering DLD) they create space for allotment. Also would pack in some Cliff bars, small bag of pretzels, some clear plastic cups for people that forgot or broke their glasses for shares and bottle opener which can cut through wax.

 

backpack worked well past 2 years but like previously mentioned, warmer weather will probably necessitate some sort of cooler.

Hope it isnt too warm, it was nice the past couple years to have the beers stay at drinking temp after opened.

 

And the rain falling in your glass helped keep you hydrated as the day went on!

 

very true. I did not mind the rain personally, especially the more I consumed beer. I can see it ruining the day for the less prepared people.

 

What if I go to Dark Lord Day alone?!

Hear me out...

Assuming FFF releases tix to the local public like they always seem to do each year a couple weeks before DLD, I plan on picking up a tix.

My dad, uncles and cousins (who are all big craft beer guys) won't be available. I have a few buddies who would go, but not for $180/ticket - it doesn't mean that much to them, even tho they like craft beers (they sure don't have a problem coming to my place and drinking them). Then the final resort is my girl, but same thing she's already said she won't go, "it's not worth it". Blah blah.

Any of you ever go alone?! DO people go alone?! I'd bring some goodies to share.

No one is alone on The Day of the Darklord. I always go with one guy, but mostly we talk to strangers. I wouldn't hesitate to go at it alone

 

I basically went alone last year because my friends wussed out. I ended up selling my extra to some random Internet dude. Actually looking like I may be going the same route this year (yes, I need better friends).

You should be fine as long as you're sociable and sharing beers. People were generous in passing stuff around even though I had a mostly shelf turd supply.

The one drawback was having to keep my backpack with me at all times. Those trips to the portapotty lugging that monstrosity sucked. Admittedly I got less annoyed the drunker I got.

 

The last 2 yeas were so cold that my beer was fine in a normal backpack, I use a Chrome messenger bag, there are separate compartments and the main compartment is waterproof so I don't have to worry about anything getting wet. Assuming it doesn't rain this year.
