To be fair, the article is on how multiple brewers are jumping on the style. Are you surprised BA is slow? NE IPAs have been around for years, but this thread for them in Chicago only popped up in the past year....

    I'm down with low bitterness.
I'm personally not super into the 0 IBUs thing. Mainly because I drink it too fast. LOL.

I'm not sure I'm super interested in 0 IBU beers, but I'm definitely willing to try them.

Well, BA is supposed to have a pulse on the beer culture around the entire country. The first Chicagoland NE-style IPA (which is what this thread is about) is believed to be Mikerphone's Special Sauce which came out 4 months before this thread.

In fairness, I started this thread once Chicago started to hop on the NE train (meaning it looked like breweries in Chicago would give the style a serious try); before that there wasn't too much reason to talk about NE IPAs around here (for obvious reasons).

I assume there have been threads in other regions or at least the general forum for a while though, right? That's where I learned why I should actually give a shit about that first batch of Special Sauce.

Was at Lagunitas yesterday for a charity event, and Born Again Yesterday definitely fits the bill. It's got a bit more bitterness than the typical NE beer, but it's, hazy, and "juicy".

    It's very, very, good.

If Lagunitas is going to jump on the train, with their resources, I feel like it can be total game changer.

Is it available to go at the brewery? Haven't seen it in the wild. Between the two Born Agains and Waldo, I love their special IPA releases.

Oh totally, that's what I was getting at. Look at your first post. There had been Mikerphone, Juicy, and like 2 others. It's not like we waited a year to start a thread. And even if we did, we don't produce national articles on beer.

Yeah man, Lagunitas is a brewery that I constantly ignored due to all their IPAs tasting "samey" to me...until I tried the One-Hitter Series. Waldo is great, Born Again is great, and I really enjoyed the Willett-aged stout they did in Chicago. I'd love to see them put that massive brewing machine to work on more hazy stuff.

I used to be the same way, actually. In the past year they've done a lot of good stuff. High Westified is super good for the money, as well as Born Again and Waldos.

I still avoid Lagunitas for them trying to sue Sierra Nevada over some petty shit

Honestly, the dude (Tony) was pretty honest about it. "Hey guys, I got all the feedback and I realize I was wrong, so I'm taking it back."

Listening to your fans over a lawsuit is pretty cool, so that actually worked for them in my opinion.

I haven't seen bottles around of Born Again Yesterday, but then again I don't normally look at the Lagunitas stuff (!) Are bottles of this out and around the Chicago zone currently?

Yeah should be pretty much everywhere by now. It's in 12 packs so keep an eye out for it on endcaps or where 12 pks are stacked.

I still avoid Sierra Nevada for copying the label and impacting Lagunitas' sales to the point where they had to shed control of the company to Heineken to stay afloat. #revisionisthistoryit'swhat'sforbrunch

I get beers that taste good. Guess I don't have the high moral ground that some people have :grinning:

He says as he cracks another Blood, Orange, IPA from Sierra Leone Brewing not realizing it is a conflict beer and it isn't made with blood oranges.

Finally making it over to Noon Whistle. Looks like they have Jive Gummy and Mosaic Gummy. I am behind the curve of this thread but excited to give them a try.
