Careful there... my last comment about mods got my old account banned. But, I completely agree.

The thread has been a letdown this year. I feel like we forced our way to 100 pages versus letting it organically play out. This point last year we were having a debate about the randomization of the variants to keep it fair for everyone. This year we are hung up on Dragon Abortion T-Shirts.

But see the difference is we had information about the variants last year by now. This year we have nothing so far. Plus we already talked about that last year .

There's way more nonsense this year. However, I feel like there's way fewer repeated questions, many of which are in the FAQ.

I agree with @ChiCub78. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's two weeks later this year. An extra two week wait with no information agitates the neck beards.

Yeah not nearly as many questions about tickets this year. The last few years I feel like every other page there was a question about "Wait, do I get an allotment and my guest, or just me?" "how many allotments do I get if I bought 2 tickets but I am just one person, who has a friend, but I am holding the tickets but only I bought them.. what then!?!!?"

Much more time from initial DLD announcement until DLD + Far fewer repeat questions + Lack of information from FFF = The sh*t show known as "Darklord Day 2017" thread

Now the thread closely resembles the actual Dark Lord Day.

It doesn't help that there have been literally zero tweets on the DLD twitter. Yeah, most of it is answering the same stupid questions several times, but occasionally there was something worth discussing for a page or two. The only thing we have this year is the "variant not guaranteed" freak out.

Shit, they haven't even updated the header image!

When people ask me about DLD, my first comment always is, "It's the most glorious shit show of a beer fest ever created".

    Dark Lord Day 2016 - April 30th
    Band Announcement - April 22nd
    Variant Announcement - April 27th.

We have some time boys, no reason to get impatient. Last year was the earliest I have ever seen them announce the variants... In past years they dragged that shit out until the morning of DLD.

It amazes me that they were able to create the most glorious sh*t show of a beer fest yet are unable or unwilling to even update their twitter header image. FFF has created one of the biggest, most popular beer fests in the country and yet they can't tell you what the variants will be, can't give you a festival map and a list of the food vendors until you get there that day, and at some point before the big day they'll release the band list.
I guess the real question/topic should be "Who's the real idiot here?" I mean, we all dumped $180 dollars for entry to a festival knowing we'd get 4 bottles of Dark Lord and knowing what group we'd be in. THAT WAS IT. That's literally all we knew other than we can still share beer. We don't know the variants and who's even getting one. We don't know the bands playing except for two. We don't know what food will be there. And again, we gave $180 to the Dark Lord.

Of course we forced our way to 100 pages. But WTF else are we supposed to talk about?

Worst variant ever? Temeculan 300 or Earl of Biggleswade? There's only so much of that we can do.

So my question to you would be, have you ever left DLD and been disappointed (besides missing out on a certain variant)? Or felt it wasn't worth your money/time? If not, then you've answered your own question. This will be my 10th year in a row, and I've never never been upset that I went.

EDIT: I just realized its my diamond anniversary. Looks like I better break out my pimp chalice for pours this year!

Yep, and I maybe wrong but I could swear in 2014 I didn't see the variant list until we were already in line (first and only time in Group A). Though I do remember seeing the map of the grounds a few days prior.

Nope, I have never left disappointed, nor did I say I was. If never felt nor have I said that it wasn't worth my money or my time. This will be my fourth in a row and I also have never been upset. The question I proposed and answered was in relation to them giving us sh*t for information, then we discuss the lack of information, then in hindsight we see that we've purchased the ticket regardless of the information that we had. It was in no way reflective of the previous experiences but instead the fact that we'll still go into DLD blind and b*tching we should know more and they waited so long to tell us.

I hear ya. I didn't mean to imply that that you were bitching, so apologies. I was mainly meaning it for the people that would answer your question that way. I think at this point, we all know what to expect, and the fact that the details haven't been released doesn't matter. Unless they pull the ol' switcheroo and replace all of the bands with boy bands and Skrillex or something

The information kinda sorta doesn't matter, does it?

I mean, I'd like to know the variants, but I already paid for the ticket so it's not like I'm not going to go. Same with the bands. It doesn't actually matter. I'm already going.

Knowing that, I completely understand why they aren't hot on getting all of the info out ASAP. Could they do better? Sure. Does it matter in the grand scheme? Not really.

I appreciate your understanding. We all know it's nearly impossible to gauge someone's emotion when all we have are really words on a screen. No need to apologize either. My personal opinion is just that. So by all means, take it with a grain of salt. I just wish they'd step up their game a bit. As veterans of DLD we know how it's been. That also doesn't mean it still has to be that way. Right?

I see your point. In the grand scheme of things does it change a whole lot? Not really. I'm still going. Would I like to know what's going down? Yeah, that'd be really cool.
