Truth. Gotta pay to play the variant lotto now.
    See below.
    This I believe.

What time does Variant Anxiety take the stage?

They're opening for DA at the mini-fest set up near the Munster waste disposal grounds.

As in business, circumstances change; you react as needed. The fact that they are doing random does show their understanding of business: less waiting = more spending on taps, food and merch. Also, to FFF, a variant is $50 and vintage is $25. They don't value one over any other. So for people to have booked flights and accommodations because they got group A for a Handjee, there could have been 200 that line up sooner than imaginable and only have a bottle count of 50. The rules were not clear, I agree. However, no one knows bottle count, which is really the "best" or how many people may have the same idea to line up at midnight.

It is and always be a gamble with DLD, that's the only constant.

I would expect them to be 100% random. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of having people line up early to ensure they don't get vintage. I just hope they have the randomness tied to your ticket #. Otherwise, there will be a lot of Shenanigans going on to avoid taking a bag with vintages.

That feeling you get when you and your buddy reach the front of the line, you say 'after you' & he gets Handjee and you get two 16's...........

.....I'm in B and I fully support the random totes. More time to enjoy taps and bottle share, less time in lines.

    I know what he's saying.

And to be clear, I agree it's the best possible way for floyds to handle it. I'm group A. I'm not upset.

I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect procedures to be communicated prior ticket sales and to note there is room for improvement.

Pointing out areas for improvement should not get a response of "well don't buy a ticket then! Dark lord day always has something that sucks!"

It's going to be fun in the tents this year with people trying to trade vintage or 2nd tier variants for ones they want....

I have no comment on this matter, and that's all I have say about that....

Except that I'm hoping for great weather, so everyone can spread out a bit, and to just enjoy the fest.

    Beer is good.

Personally happy for random allotments. This change allows later groups to enjoy the fest rather than standing in a line all day. Friends of mine are pissed though, and cancelled hotel rooms...

At any rate, I'm on the Jaks shuttle, group A and could still draw vintage bottles....which is fine for me. Now my concern is getting inside before A ends because I'll be on an early return shuttle.

3F had the entire year to organize and plan.... to observe last years Dark Lord and make adjustments. So why weren't the FAQs and Event Rules updated and ready to go prior to Sales?

According to you this was a good thing and I don't think anyone who understands business well would agree with you. Knowing what you are buying is important to many people at the purchase.

    Weather update

My iPhone app on Saturday still has a sun partly covered by clouds and a high of 57.

However Thursday now has a rain icon, which is a little too close for comfort for me to not worry.

I hope this happens! I really want a BBADL to keep my vertical going. If I get a HJ or other desired variant I'll gladly work a BBADL trade.

Perhaps if FFF had said prior to tickets going on sale, "This year's process will be exactly like 2016". However, they never said such a thing. As @kodt stated in another post up thread, "The site says "Everything Subject to Change" and every year things do change. Stop making assumptions, and then getting mad at FFF when they inevitably change something." We should all know by now that making assumptions regarding DLD, well we all know the saying. Can they change it to post all details prior to ticket sales? Sure they can but that's not how it's being done nor how it has been done. If folks are upset about details changing until the day of the event, well, don't purchase tickets is all I can recommend. Plenty of people will happily take that spot.

This is a great point on the new rule about missing your allotment time..

I'm not sure why Group A doesn't get priority at 9 a.m. . If you show up at say 8 a.m. but the B-E people are in line in front of you and you can't get in until 11:10, you are so fucked... because you now have to stay the entire event or come back at 7 p.m. to get your bottles because no one at 3F understands how one giant line for everyone works for all groups except Group A.

Haven't they had a separate queue for Group A every year - where that group heads straight into the brewery for bottle pick-up? My assumption is that will be the case this year, but again, this is Floyds, so no one knows for certain.
