Greetings, fellow NBSers, and thanks to @cjgiant for leading this convoy out of harbor.

Finally, we've had some rain in the Spokanistan region, which has made the air considerably less smoky than it's been in weeks. As an asthmatic, I'm profoundly grateful. At 72 degrees, it is also considerably cooler than the 94-97 degrees that prevailed for most of the week.

Today I had a late start to my Sunday beering, new or otherwise. A friend of @beertunes was passing through, so I met him at the Total Wine on the north side of town and passed him some local beers to take back to the Bellingham Beer Sage. After doing some grocery shopping afterwards, I drove back across town and hit a certain NE IPA waiting at home that y'all might have heard of.

Big shout out to @jhavs for making this possible. This is a big beer, but also quite agreeably drinkable. Much better balanced than I expected, and not a beery glass of OJ like some of it's style mates.I think I get the hype for this one.

Hey good evening NBS. Thanks to @cjgiant for the words of wisdom. And incidentally my birthday is tomorrow. Not really something you super celebrate as you get older. Double nickels tomorrow so that ones a little frightening. Mentally Im still way below that and I stay in pretty good shape. I mean if I didnt drink beer I would be skinny. Its true though seasons and days and weeks just seem to fly by the older you get. My 24 yr old son is off to Grad Law School at Hofstra today. Full Scholarship. Hooray for that. Daughter will be heading back in 2 weeks. Sometimes you just wish you could go back and experience the best moments- like winning the state football championships, or my daughter directing her first play. I know theyll be good times to come. Just enjoy the shit out of every moment because they are all special. OK! running on here. To beer!
Not one that usually goes crazy on the collabs but hell Trillium/Veil?
Adult Human DIPA brewed with blood oranges.
    Pours a very turbid orange/beige/gold
With an off white head that doesnt last and leaves no lacing. Looks flat. Looks ugly. Looks like frozen concentrated OJ.
Aroma, of course craploads of citrus- sweeter though, tangerine, orange, a bit of grapefruit, maybe a hint of pine.
Taste is explosive orange with some sweetness that finishes with bitterness of pine, and lots of grapefruit and orange rind. Honestly pretty one dimensional. Not terrible just not alot of diversity here.
Feel is slightly thick but close to medium. Leaves a coating of concentrated OJ like oil on the tongue and back of the throat. There is some tiny bubbles that you feel gently. It does finish dry but that OJ just doesnt go away.
Havent had Veil but Im guessing this is not representative of alot their beers. Seems from post I hear alot of good things about their use of hops. I'll probably get some flack but this is not my cup of tea. Believe me, its plenty drinkable if you like your beer to taste like orange soda. I just dont get it. First its ugly as all hell. I mean I can take turbid but please thus looks like liquid applesauce. Im just not crazy on Trillium. I do really dig a number of their beers....(I have me some DDH Stillings St.) I just get tired of the turbid thickness that seems to go flat quickly.
To each his own, I realize I am in the minority here. Some great beers but this one I took a chance on and bought 2 -4 packs. Wouldnt again. And Trilliums collabs ( and others) Ive been disappointed with.
Hey have a great Sunday and week.
And Thanks for taking the time.

Hopefully we won't need to set up a hotline, 1-888-NBS-LEAK. @cavedave appropriately self-reported, so no "moral quandaries" are necessary

    Carry on, NBS!

Happy Sunday NBS players. Another lovely summer day here on the island. Hot and sunny with a subtle cool breeze. Had a long but nice Saturday in the bronx. Went with my fiance', father in law, and my now nine year old nephew to a yankees game. Only his third pro game ever. Still doesn't come close to the excitement of a good Mets game or the luxury of Citi Field but it was a decent time. I will say that the beer game at most sporting events pretty much stinks. It's all inbev-craft. A 20oz pour of blue point mosaic session ipa ran me 13.50. Anyway, thought about hitting the beach but opted for a lazy day at home. Did a little gardening and going to throw a little dinner on the grill shortly.

I have two new beers today but we will see if I get to both. My first new beer is Second Bite, ipa, from Spider Bite here on the island. The brew features citra, cascade, and zythos hops. It checks in at 7.4% abv and has a 8/4/17. This too is another li beer that is contract brewed/canned in MA.

A pure amber pour with moderate carbonation. Subtle clarity and a fluffy white head. On the nose I get a mix of hops and malt but not strongly floral. On the drinking it's hoppy and bitter upfront with a clean mix of malt. A bitter flow as well as on the finish. Subtle citrus notes but I mostly get bitter pine, resin, and spicy notes. A pretty decent amount of pale malt hits my palate too the more it warms. The mouth feel is moderate with a real balanced feel to it.

Overall, not bad but nothing great either. It's just a bit to balanced for me and the hops really don't hit enough. I'm mostly in the 3.5 range here,

Still at Burley Oak. This is Citralaxy, an outstanding DIPA recommended by @larryi86. Wow. Fantastic beer!

Poured into a pint glass at the source. Looks like a classic NEIPA: turbid and a bright golden color with a frothy white head. Huge citrus aromas mixed with a comforting resiny dankness. Very well-balanced taste with orange, grapefruit, resin, and bready notes. Pillowy soft feel. Overall, this is an outstanding beer.

Busy day with my oldest son's 9th birthday shenanigans, managed to share a few beers with my neighbor including this one I picked up a few weeks ago on a trip to see my stepdaughter in Tampa. I've heard lots about this one but this was the first time I have had a chance to purchase it, I overpaid dearly as it was a to go bottle option at a restaurant but like I said it was the first time I've had the chance to get it.
    Dogfish Head 120 minute
Poured a slightly hazy, dark amber with a thin head that was gone pretty quick.
Smell was sweet malts and hops.
From reading the bottle I had braced myself for a blast of bitter hops but was instead met with a sweet maltiness, there were hops present but not quite enough to be considered the holy grail of hopheads IMO. To be this high of an ABV the alcohol was very well hidden, this could be sneaky. Overall this one was pretty good, I would definitely drink it again if I find it in a normal retail setting.

Ok, had a new VA beer I wanted to get into, but I felt I'd go with a beer I think more of you have access to. As it turns out, unless someone sneaks in, I'll be the tenth review on this beer. The beer is from Knee Deep out of California, called Tahoe Deep:

Popping this open and starting the pour, I have a distinct expectation this will be a classic west coast DIPA. The pour is an orange-hued golden to amber, with a big head on an aggressive pour. The scents from the pour wafted to me as classic citrus and mostly pine American hops ( I thought 3 C's - and the can notes two are, Cascade and Centennial with CTZ).

Closer inspection of the nose gives me a sense that the malt has some influence here. There's a neutral wood aspect to the nose, oddly, more than pure malt. I think it's just how some darker malts are adding their influence, combined with any earthy aspects from the hops. A light floral citrus is the main component of the hoppy side of the nose.

Taste is classic west coast IPA, with the opening having some sweetness upon an earthy backbone. A little flower water transitions into the quite bitter back end. The bitterness draws my tongue inward, and adds a drying aspect to the beer. The malt flavor sneaks through to provide a thread, but my taste buds are gathering around and following the orange rind to grapefruit pith to pine needle bitterness the hops are putting out.

A very nice, classic West Coast IPA, and a quite bitter one at that. Enjoyable, for sure.

I heard that this was coming out and they had it today at Earth Fare so I grabbed a 6. Very Blue Moon like but not as sweet, a little dryer. Smell is of orange, hazy unfiltered look, feel is light carbonation. Definitely an easy drinking beer. I could prolly pound it like I do Gatorade after a run or ride. From the website: hops - Nugget and Cascade, Grains of Paradise, Fresh Ground Seville Orange Peel, Fresh Ground Indian Coriander.

Could you please give us some details on the aspects of the beer? We want to get a feel for the beer in this thread so we can learn from your experience and know what to expect. Thank you.

    Happy NBS, NBS-ites!

It is another beautiful day here in Montreal. I just got back from a little work and am planning on hanging out on the balcony all evening enjoying a new beer and making some dinner.

My beer this week is a new experimental IPA from Dunham, a brewery I've reviewed on here many times before. They have been doing what I call 'wacky' two-hop versions of a base IPA for quite a while now. I love any single hop stuff just for the sake of needing out and I find that the double hop is nice cause it gives a little more depth. Usually they are both pretty unusual hop varieties. This one is are with Jarrylo (grassy and spicy*) and Falconer's Flight (floral and citrus*).

It pours nice with a big bone white head and looking like herbal tea. The aroma is noticeable immediately. Bright citrus and lots of oily fruit resin smells. The flavor is the flip side of this: dry bitterness with some light citrus/fruit sweetness. It is easy drinking and presents some nice aspects of the hops in it.

As with the other ones in this series (and most single hop IPAs) I feel like it is great but it is a ways from really popping. It make sense that it is more limiting brewing with just a couple hops but this one is well-done.

If you want to see my real review it is here.

    Cheers, all!

*-according to a quick Google search (after trying it I'm in agreement).
